I am 4 months preg. w/ twins and 1 baby is measuring 1 week smaller then the other. Has anyone else had this issue? I go every 4 weeks for an ultrasound to monitor the smaller baby and so far the smaller one is on track just a week behind which it is not common to have a smaller one this early on. Any info or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Also, is there a twin pregnancy book you can recommend?

What can I do next?

I went for an ultrasound and baby A (smaller baby) is catching up. He is only 3 days behind his brother. Now my issue is coming up with 2 boy names with the letter H and N or
G & H or N & O. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi L.! Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!! I also have twins, age 28 months, and if I recall, it is normal for them to be somewhat different sizes (think about how full-term babies are different sizes). As as Erin said, the Saddleback Mothers of Multiples Club is a great resource. I joined as soon as I found out I was pregnant, and have found it to be a wonderful group of women who have helped me immensely. Check out www.smomc.org for more info; you can register on the site and someone will call or email you to help you get acquainted with the club.

Good luck!!

Hi L.! First off, CONGRATS! My twins are 5.5 now (fraternal G/G) and you are in for quite an adventure! Not sure if you have already done so, but I strongly encourage you to join a multiples club. I belong to Orage Coast Mothers of Multiples, which includes HB, FV, Seal Beach, Los Al and other surrounding areas. You may be better suited for Saddleback Mothers of Multiples which is right in your area (http://www.smomc.org/). You will get a wealth of advice and information, as well as form strong friendships. It's also a great way to get out for at least one night a week!!

In regards to the smaller of your babies, is it possible that that one implanted later? Just a thought.

Good luck to you! Let us know what happens!

Hi there. I was pregnant with twins last year. It's not crazy uncommon for them to measure differently, but it's better for them to measure the same for as long into the pregnancy as possible. I would suggest you talk to your OB about going every two weeks at this point, have an ultrasound where they measure the babies every time and consider going to a perinatologist as well, if you're not already. Magella Fetal Medicine over by Hoag is a great place...

Good luck!

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Twins truly are a double blessing! If your doctor is not concerned, you should not be concerned. It is (from my experience and from what I understand) very common for twins to measure differently. In fact, my twins were born a pound and a half different in weight (now they are nine months and nearly four pounds apart). Both are very healthy and just as differrent as different can be. I don't know of any good books to recommend, but if I can be a source of help, feel free to email me. I was fortunate enough to have a neighbor with triplets, so my questions were always answered from a mom with experience. That was always better than any book for me. All my best to you and your wonderful growing family!!!

I have twins that are 3 years old now. My twin B was larger but he was also my boy. When they were born he weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and my daughter weighed 6 lbs 1 oz. The monthly ultrasounds are standard practice for twin pregnancy. I had several books but I just donated them to my twins club and I don't remember what they were called. Sorry. You might want to look into a multiples club. You can join before your twins are born. It is a great support for pregnant and new moms of multiples. Check out the web site for south OC www.smomc.org Good Luck on your double blessings!

I gave birth to twins 27 years ago! One of the twins was always smaller throughout the pregency. They were taken at 32 weeks; 5.6 and 6.10 pounds. The doctor says there is a chance I got pregnent when I was pregnent! Sounds crazy but it is a reality.
