I had a tubal ligation when I was 25 and had two kids. Then I reversed it 3 years later and had 3 more kids. LOL I regretted my tubal and hated the side effects!
Hey ladies,
i dont have insurance and i am 26. I have 2 beautiful children and no longer want children. How much does it cost and what are the pro's and con's of tying my tubes at this age?

Its going to cost you a fortune without insurance! Why dont you have any? Scary! Im getting mine tied in May when I have a c-section, I am 100% done!
Don't do it so young! After ten years the effectiveness of having your tubes tied goes down quite a bit (i.e. women end up having surprise babies when their older ones are high school age). My suggestion is to get an IUD instead until you are with a man who is willing to get a vasectomy! Good luck!
my understanding is that you have to either have one more or wait until you are in your 30's that is what my dr told me after I asked. So instead I have Mirena (5yr IUD) and after that I may look into Essure.
and w/out insurance the mirena would have been about 500 cash.
Get an IUD. That'd be a couple hundred bucks (as opposed to a couple thousand) and it's just as effective. Not to mention it's reversable. You might really totally be done having kids, but just check out this site and you'll find lots of examples of women who were really totally done having kids, got their tubes tied, and now are going through heck and back trying to get pregnant again. Good luck.
I had mine tied at 31 with one child. It was wonderful knowing I wouldn't have to worry about another pregnancy, and I never regretted having it done (I'm now a granny with an only grandson). For me, motherhood was and is a spectacular experience, and, a mother is not all I was – life demanded so much more from me.
I never had any negative effects. I understand some are possible, and it's also possible, but rare, for a pregnancy to happen ten years or so in the future, especially in younger women. Be sure to ask about that.
Planned Parenthood used to perform these procedures on a sliding scale. I'd call them and see what their current policies are. They were also an excellent source of information when I had mine done.
IUD is the best bet......in 5 years maybe you will change your mind.
I would find another way to prevent pregnancy. You are so young, you might want 1 more down the road but you won't know till you get there. Also getting them tied is not 100%. There is 1 in 1000 they could find there way back. My dh had a vasectomy and I got preg after 3 yrs at age 47. Doctor told me the same thing, its not 100% so be careful .
A friend of mine got hers tied and she had weight and bloating problems.

I would check into other alternatives like assure or iuds that are permanent. Tying your tubes otherwise will be expensive and require surgery and too much down time for recovery.
You are really young. I think Dr's don't like to do it unless you are older. I had mine done with my 3rd, all 3 were born via C-Section and I was 29 and they didn't question mine. I don't know how it is handled without insurance but I would think it is an expensive.
You really are still young. Are you sure that you want to do this? I had my first two kids and then five years later wanted more. I have four :) You don't know how you will feel in a few years.
I had my 3rd baby at 24 and my doctor asked if I wanted my tubes tied. My husband and I were sure we were done having babies, but at 24 I did not want to prevent the possibilty. When the baby was 2, he went ahead and had a vasectomy. For me, it was the only fair (haha) option. I had 3 babies and he got to have one vasectomy. I commend you for not wanting to keep having babies if you do not want anymore, but I would definitely encourage you to think long and hard before doing it. Even though my husband is :fixed" if we ever wanted more we could, because I am still able to. Good luck :).
