Try not to stress. With my first the ultrasound was behind the due date according my my cycle. When I ask my OB he wasn't at all concerned said it happens all the time. They also predicted I would have a small baby (6 lb) In the end I delivered a healthy 8 lb 21 1/2 inch baby boy!

I had the same thing happen to me and we did some infertility to get pregnant so I knew the exact dates. The ultra sound was a week behind my dates. My OB stuck with the u/s date. I also was told once you see a heartbeat the chances of a miscarriage drop a lot.
Congrats!

You have already said the two MOST IMPORTANT things “strong heartbeat and fetal movement”. Try not to worry or stress over little things and ENJOY your pregnancy. Morning sickness or not!

OB/GYN’s use a convoluted formula to predict due date unless you did IUI or IVF which is exact. Keep in mind that the docs calculate from the first day you started your period not the day it ended. With that in mind and assuming you do the same thing, if you had your period 8 weeks ago and ovulation occurs mid cycle, around day 10 to 15, then conception would have occurred roughly 2 weeks later than the start of your period, which puts the fetus at around 6 weeks.

Trust me on this, if there was anything wrong, they would tell you. They won’t instill false hope.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

That happened when I got pregnant with my son. I was coming off the pill so I think my cycle was messed up. Regardless I didn't ovulate 14 days after my period which is what is "normal". He was measuring about 1.5 weeks smaller than what I estimated. Unless you are one of the people who has had a regular cycle forever and are 100% sure of the day you ovulated I wouldn't be worried. Also the doctor and ultrasound tech should be able to see if anything is wrong. If your only worry is your own due to the size I wouldn't think anymore about it. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy. It will be over before you know it.

Getting pregnant is not an exact science, no matter how much control we try to exert over it. The ultrasound may be correct, or it may not be (as to how far along you are). If there was a strong heartbeat and good movement, then your baby is fine. There will be plenty to worry about down the road, so try not to invent worry where there is none. As moms, we are hard enough on ourselves without extra anxiety. Relax, and enjoy this special time. Good luck!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Remember due dates are an estimate. Like you, I always knew my dates of my lmp. My 4th child was born at 36 wks weighing 8lbs and 21.5in long. Everyone freely voiced that my provider must have had my dates wrong. My dates were right, my baby came when she was ready...my provider was a midwife and she trusted that I knew my body. (My husband was also home from his mid-tour from Iraq and we had a 2wk window where he was home...there was no mistaking when our baby was conceived...my lmp dates were accurate.)

I encourage you to watch The Business of Being Born documentary by Ricki Lake & Abby Epstein. You can rent/watch it through Netflix, if you have it.

I encourage you to read "The Thinking Woman's Guide to A Better BIrth", by Henci Goer

I encourage you to HIRE A DOULA!

Congratulations again...and remember it's your body, your birth and your baby...Trust the process & Trust Birth

Peace & Light,
J.

Don't fret. They changed my due date by a week and a half by size of initial measurements. I knew when he was due. Turns out I was right. Movement and heartbeat are far more important than exact measurements. Congrats mommy!

I had the same thing. Granted, I have PCOS so my cycles are really weird, but I went in thinking I was a little over 6 weeks and was only measuring 4. I was shocked too! At 4 weeks....there really is not much to see. My doctor did another transvaginal 4 weeks later and the baby was measuring 8 weeks. Most likely your baby is fine!! There may have a change in when you ovulated. You could always call the doctor's office and speak to someone about it, just to put your mind at ease!

This is very common...try not to worry about it. Mine always measured larger than what should have been by my period.

During my last pregnancy my first ultrasound measured 6 weeks 3 days when I thought I should have been about 7 weeks 3 days. My due date changed several times. That baby is now a sweet little almost one year old! Congrats on your baby!

ahhh the powers of modern medicine can make us nuts!!

DO NOT PANIC!!!! DO NOT STRESS!!!

It's possible that you ovulated later than you "normally" do. believe it or not - our bodies may work "right" and have a "schedule" but there are times that even when you have your period at the exact same time - that the egg didn't drop until later.

You have a strong heart beat. DO NOT STRESS!!!

Please don't worry. You could have gotten pregnant anytime between the date of your last period and when your next one was supposed to start. 6 1/2 weeks may be right on target and if it isn't, you may measure differently at your next ultrasound. Lots of women measure one thing at one ultrasound and different by a week or so at the next one. Just try to relax and take care of yourself. Worrying about this will only cause you stress. If there is a concern, your doctor will surely let you know. Congratulations!!!

Hey there! During my last pregnancy, the due date "changed" three times. They also estimated his weight at seven pounds, and he came out at 9.1! I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. If you know when your date was, just be prepared for an earlier delivery than the docs say :-)

Even if you know your LMP, you may have ovulated late. My doctor says my body does this since both of my pregnancies measured "small" early on. Don't worry, though - my twins definitely caught up and were huge at birth, and this little girl due in the summer is now measuring two weeks bigger. So, it gives them a due date based on measurements, which can be more accurate than a LMP (again, especially if you ovulate later, which we don't always know). But, babies will grow at their own rate. Don't worry, and congratulations!
