Hi Mommy's - Gabby is getting a bit cumbersome to carry around in the car seat. She's turning 8 months soon and i'd love to start to transfer her to an umbrella stroller when we go out and about. Any suggestions? What makes a stroller good? I'd like to pay under a 100.00. I've seen so many ranging between 19.99 and 180.00!!! i am a big believer in that you get what you pay for so i'm a bit skeptical of a 20 dollar stroller!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank u for all of the great advice and opinions! We are going to hold off a bit longer. I might as well use what we have - which is the full stroller from the Chicco Cortino Travel System. Sure its a bit heavy and bulky but Gabby is very comfortable in it and it didn't cost a penny! She loves strolling around and checking out the scenery.
PS - Gabby will be 8 months on March 15th and she is 20 lbs, 28 in long and is a speed racing crawler so I felt pretty comfortable with her sitting in a stroller.

I bought the combi flare which we love. Some reviewers said it is hard to turn but I have no problem - you just have to make sure the wheels are unlocked. It does well in the city over the bumpy sidewalks. The 3-point harness didn't work that well at first b/c I have a squimer but now he's fine in it - once he was 11 mos. old. I got it for about $75. I'm sure if you search for it on google you can find a good deal esp. in this economy. If you have any questions let me know. Also people always comment on how great it looks and they say it looks really expensive - how funny! One reviewer actually said someone told her it looked like the merceded of strollers:)

Hi D.,

Unless you do a lot of outdoor walking, for an umbrella stroller buy the cheapest one you can get. If its just for keeping in the car and strolling around the mall/store, I have to think any of them will be fine. My husband and I each have a $20 super basic model from Babies R Us in our cars, and it beats dragging the bigger stroller in and out. Plus, the smallest stroller you can find is the best way to get around the store.

Although... 8 months might be a little young for this kind of stroller, but you'll know.

However... if you walk outside for any stretch, I recommend you get a regular stroller, because I think the umbrella type are too close to the ground and once she gets older and she's walking, she'll try to get out. (Even if strapped in.) We bought a middle of the road $150 model (I think its a Combi) after our Graco MetroLite broke from being shoved in and out of the car trunk. It seems a little sturdier, but the MetroLite was great before we broke it.

My daughter is 18 months and we love our $20 stroller. We recently strolled the streets of Miami and we are currently in Brazil still using the cheap stroller!!!

Hey D.! Chicco makes a great umbrella stroller for around $80. Babies R Us sells it. We love ours. And it only weighs 11lbs! Good luck
