Hi Mamas!
So, a week and a half ago, my husband and I were, well, you know. and we were fooling around. Just before the Hubbs got busy, he ripped open the condom and paused for a second, then we, well, you know. (gee this is so embarassing!) Anyways, just before he had his moment, he says, "we have to stop" and I'm like"WHY!" It was getting good. Well, he had opened the condom, but not put it on! I didn't even notice. To be blunt, he was inside me with no protection. So, long story short (too late, I know) my period is a day late. How many of you are in favor of me getting a test today vs. waiting a day? Really, what are the chances?
Thanks mamas!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks gals! I know it is a ridiculous question because it's a ridiculous situation! I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 month old and a TINY two bedroom house. I would LOVE to have to move, but, not really thrilled at being maybe preggers this soon after baby # 2. If I am pregnant, we will all be happy after the shock wears off.

ETA: Period started tonight. YAY! So, not pregnant. Thanks everybody for your input!

I always heard that there was special word for people who use the withdraw method - "parents."

Get a pregnancy test, if it'll make you feel better. It'll be able to tell you something by now, even if it's not one of the super-early ones.

I always keep pregnancy tests in the house, anyway. You never know, and it DOES make me feel better to take one, even when it's unlikely.

Could be pregnant. Testing might make you feel better if it's negative, but as you know, testing too early can give you a false negative too.

It took literally one time for my husband and I to get pregnant. So, there's that.

If your period is late, you can take a test. I would take a test now. If it comes back negative and you still don't have your period in several days or a week...take another. If you don't want to be pregnant, you are using the wrong kind of birth control!! The condom has to be used the WHOLE time ;)

This seems like kind of a ridiculous question since none of us would have any possible way to know all the variables here and make what is even CLOSE to an educated guess. I will say that when all the conditions are right and two healthy people have sex during the small window of ovulation, there's a 25% chance of conception. So should you buy a pregnancy test today? Sure....why wouldn't you?

You'll be no more or less pregnant tomorrow than you are today...either you are or are not. I'd wait at least a few days.
For some, it's that easy to get pregnant and some who are struggling to conceive might envy your situation.

J.:

it only takes ONE TIME of having unprotected sex to get pregnant.

I don't know what other forms of birth control you are using, if any.
I don't know anything about your body or cycles.

So you had unprotected sex. Is it possible you are pregnant? Yes. Do I THINK you're pregnant? Most likely not. But again - I DO NOT KNOW you or your cycles.

I would wait 3 days and take a test. You never know!!! Funky things happen all the time!

I think it's too early to be sure about the results of a pregnancy test, so a negative test now will not tell you anything definite. I'd say you should wait a week at least, until you can be more certain the results mean something. Good luck with everything!

If it were me, and I actually WAS pregnant, it would show up on a test the day before my period was due (I have no patience at all - obviously).

Also - my husband and I only tried for one month with each of our 2nd and 3rd children.

If you are late - I'd take the test.

Yes, you could be pregnant. You had unprotected sex.
Test? Personal preference, I guess.
Would it make that much difference to wait a day or two or a week?

If you are/were not ready to add another then the morning after is a suggestion *ducks* accidents happen, bodies are different and responisbility should be taken. I commend you for being honest and getting real opinions, well there is mine. Obviously too late as it was a week and a half ago, but in the future, should it occur again that is my 2cents.

For some it is very easy to get pregnant. It took 5 years to concieve my 1st. 5 more years for my second and my 3rd about 10 minutes!LOL I knew right away I was pregnant and 2 weeks later a test confermed what my heart knew!

It sounds like it is a little late if you have a very strict 28 day cycle that you ovulate in the middle of... Are you ever late?

Just take a test. I would.

Hmm, a week and a half ago was day __ out of your normal ___ days?
If you say it was day #7-14 of your normal 28-32 days, then I'd say sure, you got chances. But I'd say wait 2-3 more days. I don't know if a test would even work for you this early on.

Never hurts to test, but try to think of when you ovulate - perhaps you're in the clear b/c of timing. I know it's stressful when you haven't planned for these things, but God blesses us how he sees fit :) And if that's not the case, then lesson learned :) ha ha - Good luck!!

Well I guess my only question is...Where you ovulating? Or about to ovulate....like was this night within about a week before ovulation? If you can answer yes to these questions than there is a very good chance you are pregnant. But if you know you already ovulated then don't waste your money on a test. Just wait a few more days and I bet your period will come. But let us know what happens either way!!!!!

You know it just depends on you. Ovulating or not. My advice would be to get a test the sooner you know.... The more time you'll have to prepare. (In your situation maybe getting a bigger home.) CONGRATULATIONS if you are!!:)
best of luck to your family!

not likely. if he pulled out chances are very slim. Unless you J. had fun right before and he hadn't gone to the bathroom so there would be actual residue left to come put during its not likely. my boyfriend and i used this method for months and we wee good..as long as he pulls out on time its very unlikely

LOL...well, this is usually the way it goes: When you're not trying or planning, or you aren't ready...it's easy.

And when you have it all planned and are trying, it's a a pain in the butt.

Praying you get what you want out of this situation!

I think you know the answer already. : )

If it was really a week and a half ago, like 10 days, it was probably a few days after you ovulated, in which case the chances aren't as good as if it had been during or before. But, as you know, unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy anytime.

Come back and update us!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but don't shout "yeah" just yet. You can get your period just after and still be pregnant. You might want to pick up that pregnancy test at your local pharmacy to make sure, then yell, "Yeah." Even the store brands work good.
