My soon to be 7 yr old daughter is planning a Birthday party with a unicorn theme. We have great ideas for food, favors, decoration, etc. but are having a hard time coming up with games/activities. We need ideas for unicorn theme games/activities that can be done indoors(her birthday is in Feb) to accommodate thirteen girls. Thanks in advance for all of your creativity!

It would be kind of cool if you could get a unicorn head and have them toss rings on the horn..might go by pretty fast..but it's a thought. Also, maybe a unicorn pinata. Oops, I didn't read the other mother's responses before I responded..but they must be good if we're all thinking it!

We had a unicorn birthday party a few years ago. They played pin the horn on the unicorn and had a unicorn piniata (that's not spelled right, is it?).

Good luck.

UNICORN BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

A Pretty Picture Frame
Digital camera or Polaroid needed
Pre-cut or purchase color foam picture frames.
Decorate with stickers, ribbons, glitter glue or jewels.
Take a picture of each party guest with the special Unicorn
mentioned in the above decorating suggestions.

Make and take Glitter Dough
Make your own play dough.
Provide each child with a ball of dough and some fine glitter (craft store). The children will work the glitter into the dough. Package each of the guests dough into a Zip -loc bag to be taken home as a party favor.

Unicorn Party Puzzler
Before the party -- Print out Unicorn pictures from the Internet,
or use a coloring book. Attach each picture onto some construction paper with a glue stick. Cut the pictures into 2, 3, or 4 puzzle pieces. Hide the pieces around the party area. The girls each need to find one puzzle piece and then find the the players with the matching piece/s.

Pin the Horn on the Unicorn
(play just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey)
Enlist an artistic teenager to fashion a beautiful unicorn on a large sheet of poster board. However...don not include the horn. Make unicorn horns with craft foam or poster board. Add a small piece of "sticky-tack" to attach the horns at game time. Once the game is over your unicorn-loving birthday girl will be able hang the poster on her bedroom wall!

Pin the horn on the unicorn? :-) Egg hunt (inside the eggs could be magic fairy dust (glitter). A long wall of paper where the kids could all color parts of a magical unicorn scene with a forest, castle, princessses, clouds, and unicorns... Good luck.

Black velvet fuzzy art to color is available at many stores, I have seen unicorns. Of course going along with unicorns is the fairy princess/knight theme/dragons theme. These are readily available in the crafts department. At Hobby Lobby I got this medium in door hanger form and magnet form, the preteen s even loved them. They have packages of 4-6 available and you can go their website and print off a coupon if they aren't already on sale.

This might be cute, try a ring toss!
In the sporting goods section of any store like KMart or Target, you can find large plastic rings. In that same section you can find a few small orange cones (set of 4). You can decorate the cones to look like unicorn horns with paint/glitter. Use all the cones so your game can be more challenging by placing some on boxes or further away from your players. For prizes, you can go to the dollar store and pick up head bands or decorated wire to shape into head bands and add some ribbons and curl. Have a great party!

Check out the craft stores for unicorn shaped sun catchers the girls could paint. Friendship bracelets are a big hit too. I have an 11 year old girl, anything crafty will keep them busy!

Pin the tail on the unicorn! If you haven't alredy come up with that one :) I would look for craft activities if you don't mind the mess. Walmart and craft stores have little chalk figurines that can be painted with standard acrylic paints and cheap paintbrushes. The figures are less that $.50 a piece and the paints maybe a $1 each, just pick out a few girly colors. I use egg cartons to squeeze the paint into and a paintbrush for each color. Save the Sunday paper so they can paint on top of it. After they are done, bundle it up and toss. Now they each will have a reminder of the party :) The had unicorns last time I checked...various other animals and things too.

For a game, adapt an old classic! Pin the tail or the horn on the unicorn. They may enjoy making their own unicorn dress-up outfits with sparkly, furry yarn for the tails and twists of paper or raffia for the horns. Have plenty of glitter paint or stick-on jewels for decorationg.

the person before me had some awesome ideas that I would like to add to. Instead of drawing a unicorn for the pin the horn game, just find a poster and have it laminated or put contact paper over it and then play the game. I know the horn is already on it, but who cares, see who can match it up. We did that with a Disney princess poster for my daughter and played pin the crown and she still has that poster on her wall today.

Take a group picture and have the pictures ready before they leave. My daughter has gotten many group birthday pictures before she has left the party and it was a great way to tell me all about the party when she sees the faces and can remember what happened. OR you can take a group picture and use that picture as an insert in your thank you notes when you daughter writes those so that her friends can have a picture when they receive their thank you.

You might try getting those inexpensive wooden or cardboard boxes to decorate and paint for jewelry boxes for the girls and maybe some beads and cord and the girls could make necklaces. You could find the stuff at like michaels or hobby lobby. I would set the stuff up as stations. Same as you could have a sundae station if you wanted for desert.

I had a unicorn theme party for my 6 year old girl but we had it in a horse stable and rode horses. But we did have a pin the horn on the unicorn game (got it at birthdays express or celebrate express on line). It was fun and even the older kids enjoyes it. I had a small prize for the top two (small unicorn and unicorn sticker books), but in retrospect I should have had something for everyone who played because some were disappointed.

Have fun!

When I was younger we had a party where we made unicorn stained glass window hangings. It was a prepackaged metal frame(shaped like a unicorn) that you filled with little plastic beads. After you arranged the colors you wanted you put them all in the oven together. It was a good group activity since you could melt them while you where doing something else.

Pin the horn on the unicorn.
Decorate the unicorn: get some posterboards, split the kids into groups (each group gets a poster with the outline of a unicorn drawn on it). Make sure to give each group baubles (glitter, beads, glue, etc) and see who can decorate their unicorn fastest. Judge them and/or give them all "rewards" in the form of goody bags.
Hopscotch with horseshoes instead of boxes drawn.
Hot potato with a stuffed unicorn.

That is about all I have.....

Best wishes!!!

HI LeeAnn,

Do you have a unicorn head? (Stuffed animal or a pinata) The girls could toss rings and try to get them on the horn. If the room is big enough and they're no too rough, you could also do a pinata - the kind where everyone pulls a ribbon works well indoors. Just a thought. Have fun! L.
