Unique Girl Cat Names

A cat appeared on our doorstep this morning. She's SUPER friendly! If we can't find the owner, we are probably going to keep her. She's 95% black and a small white circle on her belly. We're REALLY hoping she's not pregnant. She's a slender cat with a bigger belly...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Veronica- what city did you see the black cat with white spot in?

I would LOVE to find the owners. I'm definitely not one of those people that don't search for owners. TBH: I already have 2 dogs and 1 cat. I really don't want another pet, but if we can't find her owner, we'll more than likely keep her..

I like Luna. :)
And have her scanned for microchip.

ETA - I don't prefer cat names with a strong "S" sound........because when I want my cats to get off the counter or plants, I PSSSSS at them. I don't want their names associated with that sound. :)

Luna. For the "moon" spot on her belly.

ETA: Not to burst your bubble, but have you looked at craigslist and pet harbor.com for the cat? I just saw on the petharbor.com site a picture of a cat, reported lost, that is all black with a tuft of white on his belly, and a second black cat missing but with no picture. I know if my cat was missing, I'd want people to help her find me.

Y. - I searched Ft. Lauderdale (per your profile) - didn't see any on craigslist, but did see the two on petharbor.com. Click on "I found a pet" and there are a few listings of cats who have been reported missing.
Oh, and "check all" when asked which shelters you want to search.

"Bullet" is the one with the picture. (female)
"Snickers" doesn't have a picture, but the main color is black. (but I just noticed it's male)

(I still prefer Luna!)

I always dreamed of having a Tortie cat named Nutmeg. Not likely appropriate for a black cat....

I tend to name cats for their personality, though.:) If you've exhausted all avenues of reuniting kitty with her family, by that time you will be familiar with her personality and the name will just come.

We had a male black Siamese that we named Spooky. He was an amazing cat. He loved riding in the car, even on long trips. There were several times that I was on my way to work and I'd look in the rearview mirror and notice that he was up in the back seat looking out the window. I never saw him sneek in. I either had to take him to work with me or turn around and take him back home.

Years later, we got my 6 year old daughter a little female Chartreux kitten.
My daughter named her Lillian. She was one of the best cat's I've ever had in my life. Lillian was with us for about 15 years and it was really hard when she left us.

So...what do you mean by unique? I had a friend with a calico that she named Trick-or-Treat because that's exactly what her colors reminded her of, Halloween and Trick-or-Treat. I have a friend with a cat named Whispers because she likes to purr in your ear.

Your cat showed up on your doorstep. You could name her Dori.

Get a feel for her personality and go from there.
I hope you get some great ideas.

Our black cat's name is Inky. Her son with "patches" of white we call Patches. The three female black kittens are named by personality type (Dash- he was the first one out of the kittening box, and Thing 1 and Thing 2 because we can't tell them apart.)

There were also 3 white kittens. Mr. Pinky is the only one with a pink nose. Legolas is the badass of the group. Miss Daisy was named by her to-be owner.

*sigh* All of their names will change, I'm sure, when they go to their new homes. And yes, we will miss having 7 kittens in the house.

I only mention all of that because they are hopping all over my computer right now...and I like to talk about cats. If your stray's belly looks like a football lying sideways, she's probably pregnant. If it's just swollen and round, it's most likely worms or she has FIP. If her nipples are pink/red, she's definitely preggers. If she is pregnant and you want some advice on caring for the pregnant Queen and newborn kittens, message me here. We've just been through all of it and can give you some helpful tips :)

I recently watched a movie about a cat name Miss Minoes.
Goofy's cat is call Mr. Pettibone, it can be changed to Miss Pettibone. From Playhouse Disney's Mickey's Clubhouse.

I've owned:
Grizabella, from Cats the Broadway musical. Lots of good names.
Harley, because of her purr.
Isis, husband named her, she a bit of a priss now.
A male Fred, but it can be short for Winnafred.
Two males, Amos and Ezra, the bible is a good place for names.

I like the names: Willa
Winnie
Nihm
Star/Stella (her white spot)

I have a little orange girl named Logan. When I found her, she was 4 weeks old and I knew orange girl cats were rare, and she didnt, and still doesn't, retract her claws and I love Wolverine from DC Comics and named her after him, Logan was his original name.

All of my pets have pop culture names. Zander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Weenie dog), Malcolm from AC/DC (Bearded Dragon), Gavin from Bush (Fat tabby cat) and Stark from Tony Stark/Iron Man (Skittish long haired orange cat)

Think of your favorite band, movie, book, and choose from that :) A character that fits their personality or looks! Maybe Ellen from the show Supernatural, she had a daughter named Joe in the show and that way if she is pregnant you have a name for a kitten if you want to keep any!

Best wishes, the best animals are the ones who find you.

I had one named Arabi. My sister was in a pagent once and there was a pretty girl with that name. In college I got a cute kitten (diluted torti) and named her Arabi. I have never heard the name anywhere else.

On a trip to visit Mom an extremely friendly cat showed up at her house. If my girls ran to him, he just flopped over and wanted to be pet! Our own cat runs. He concidered "adopting" him, but didn't. Mom later found out from a neighbor that he had an owner. She met with him and asked him to try to keep "kitty boy" home as he and another cat were spraying her porch in an effort to mark territory.
I'm so glad we didn't take someones cat! I hope you find her owner!

You should take her to the Humane Society to see if she's been chipped.

I had a black and white cat growing up that I named Domino. She sounds like a Domino too! I agree you should take her in to see if she has a microchip. And hang up Found signs with her photo. Some family might be heartbroken right now.

I think Yin might be a good name (from the yin and yang symbol).

I had a cat named Mina when I was a teenager. My first cart as an adult I named Trout because he liked to play in water. My last kitty was named Kali.
