When my son pee's the bed. I wash the area with soap and water and than rinse with just water. After I have rinsed it really well I cover the area thoroughly with baking soda until it dries I usually but it on really thick. Sometimes it takes 24 hrs to dry completely. Than I vacuum it off and I have never had a problem with smell. I always do first thing in morning after the accident. I keep 1lb. baking soda on hand just in case.

Hi K.,
For $3 you can get a gallon of distilled white vinegar from your grocery store. Urine is a "base" (opposite of an acid), so the best way to neutralize any odor is to use an acid that won't stain or leave a worse smell (or perfumy-odor).

Pet stain liquids are great, but very expensive; especially of you anticipate there may be more accidents in the future.

Good luck.

Hi K.,

It's a hard chore especially after it's been there a while. A wetvac (Rainbow vacuum cleaner is best) is your only option. Urine itself is sterile but will begin to smell when it and the bacteria of the mattress meet. If it located in one area you can saturate it with a natural enzyme cleaner and then vacuum it so the bacteria will be killed as the liquid is removed. You're best bet is to get a cover to prevent it next time. Once probably won't cause too much trouble but if it continues, you may have issues.

Regards,

M.

You could try Nature's Miracle deodorizer -- you can buy it at pet stores. It got skunk smell off of my dog, so I imagine pee would be baby-food! LOL Good luck!

Pour white vinegar onto urine soaked area. Lay dry white towels on top of the vinegar. Next place something heavy like a pair of work boots or a city phone book on top of the towels to soak it up. Frequently, turn & change the towels when they become saturated.

You may need to add the use a steam cleaner to soak and remove the liquid from the mattress.
Good luck.

get a spot scrubbber from bissle clean it with that than sprinkle with baking soda or if you can't get a spot cleaner than use water and vinigar scrubb and soak up as much as can than do the same with baking soda. the baking soda will soak up smell and more moisture. After everythings dry. spray the whole mattress with freebreze and than put on a plastic cover you can get plastic covers at kmart or binsons
