It does not sound like a UTI.... it is totally normal. It happened to me with both my pregnancies. It will pass! Good luck!
Hi there. I had my first child 8 weeks ago. I had an uneventful vaginal delivery - I pushed for about an hour. I tore slightly and had a few stitches. Since then, when I have to pee, I have to do it ASAP, to the point that I do the pee-pee dance and can barely get my pants down. However, I only urinate a little bit. I don't have any leakage. Also, it's not uncommon to have to use the bathroom 5-10 minutes after I get done because I feel pressure, yet, nothing hardly comes out. I'm doing my kegels daily. Is this normal and will it go away? I spend way to much time in the bathroom! Thanks, A.

Yes it is pretty common, but it could also be a UTI. I have suffered UTI's since I was a teenager and sometimes there is a lot of pain and burning, but sometimes it is just the urge/frequency that you are talking about. You need to have a doctor do a urine test just to rule it out, you don't want it spreading to your bladder or kidneys.
Pregnancy does a number on your bladder. Since I had children, my bladder has never been the same! Same thing for me, I have to pee more often and when I have to go....get out of my way! Me and my friends always say "our kids destroyed our bladders". Right after delivery if I sneezed I would pee a little. That will most likely happen to you too. It's normal (unfortunately).
Oh, girl, did you have an epidural? Did they catheterize you? You might really have a Urinary Tract Infection. You should definitely get it checked out. They are really easy to get after delivery, especially if you got a catheter. It's worth a trip to the doc to get it checked.
Hi A., I was the exact same way after my very uneventful vaginal delivery. I did have a cath and an epidural and it was not a UTI. I talked to my doctor because I was still having issues at 12 weeks and getting ready to go back to work. He said that it was just the stress of carrying and pushing a little human out of my body and that it would resolve itself eventually. If I felt like I had to pee it was like "get out of my way" and I would leak a little if I sneezed or laughed to hard. At about the 6 month mark I noticed I was getting back to normal and now 18 months later it's fine. Just keep up with your exercises. Good luck.
I ended up having a little "hammock" ummm, installed. I had ins at the time, though!
There was an article in (I think) this months Parents magazine (and really it shows up pretty frequently in parenting magazines). It's normal, mention it to your doctor to rule out a UTI. It tends to get better over time and there are a number of things that can be done about it. So talk to your doctor. I keep hearing that half the problem is people don't talk to their doctors.
I was exactly the same as you-and did kegels and yoga leading up to my vaginal delivery. I pshed for FOUR HOURS. Yup, they let me do it and had no vaccuum extraction or anything. Needless to say, when I had to pee, I had to PEE!!!!! It gets better as the days progress. The femal body was constructed to recover from child birth and you do. By the time my little girl was 3 months I was beginning to feel "normal"ish again. You will. Sometimes it takes a little longer. But keep doing those kegels! It can't hurt....
Hi A.. It sounds to me lie you have an infection. It is possible to have all the symptoms without the pain. I am a nurse, but also a new mom. I had the exact same thing after delivery. The urgency started in the hospital, but the staff said it was normal right after delivery. It continued and when I mentioned it at a checkup, they sent off urine just to check. Two days later, I got a phone call that I had an infection. The entire time I still had no pain!! 24 hrs after starting antibiotics and ALL my symptoms had resolved. Just remember to always remind your physician if you are breastfeeding. Because that may change the treatment plan. Not all meds are safe to take. Good luck!
If you think this is bad, wait til you have to sneeze or cough!! Ugghh! :-) Welcome to life after giving birth!
Sounds like a UTI for sure. Definitely get it checked out by a doctor as you'll need some antibiotics to kick it. Hope you feel better soon!
