Hi J., Parsley Tea, it's nasty but it works. Just boil the parsley let it steep then after it cools a little drink it, my son's girl friend gets UTI's often, I make her her the parsley Tea, and she is good to go. J. L.
My 3.5 yr old daughter has been complaining about her "pee pee" for at least 6 months now. She was potty trained but still pooping in a diaper. After I would clean her diaper and change her she would start freaking out and saying "the pee pee is coming out". I think she had a sensation of being wet still. It was only every other week or so. Then it started after she got off the toilet, she would freak out that she was wet still. One weekend on vacation I couldn't even get her off the toilet, she was freaking out and again saying it wouldn't stop coming out. She would wad up tons of TP and put it in her panties and go like that. We went to the Dr. the next day and they tested her for an infection and put her on antibiotics, then said the test was negative. This continued for a while, and I took her back. They tested her again and said there was nothing. They talked to her about drinking more water and going more often and then counting to 10 before getting off the toilet. It is a complete battle to get her to even go, she can hold it forever which I know is not good. She sleeps 12 hours at night and will get up in the morning and refuse to go. We have to drag her to the toilet and then she goes. For a while she was saying it tickled, she would NEVER say it hurt, even when we asked if she was sure. Today she finally told me it hurts. I think it is time to demand to see a urologist.
Sometimes I feel it is in her head because her school (2 days a week) says she doesn't say anything of the sorts, and sometimes she only does it when she doesn't want to get dressed and is being a pain. If I say okay we have to go to the Dr. to see why it hurts, then she immediately says "it doesn't hurt anymore". So I just don't know, but don't want to ignore it in case there is something.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?

my daughter used to do the same thing. kids are so weird. i had her to the doc so many times they thought i was crazy. i think i was going a little crazy to tell the truth. what finally ended it was completely ignoring it. completely. if she acts weird after going and says it's still wet, either tell her shell dry soon or calmly tell her to go wipe again and then ignore it. and as far as her holding it ...she will go when she needs to. it seems this is becoming a way for her to get attention. they love to manipulate and get sympathy. they are weird!!! lol! dont worry. my daughter (also very strong willed) is now 12 and is perfectly normal and has no urinary issues. but the more you draw attention to it the more she will milk it.
My daughter also has issues with going to the bathroom, has since potty training, and is now 7. If the urologist doesn't find anything structurally wrong, there might be a sensory processing issue. Chances are this isn't her only issue, if that's the case. A developmental assessment might be in order, with a developmental pediatrician - not your regular pediatrician. Good luck!
My daughter is now 8 but i have dealt with those same issues with her since she was 1. I will never forget how awful i felt the first time we took her to the dr and she had a UTI. She had gone days and her describing the feeling made us think it was a yeast infection which she has a lot of too. I would defintely take it serious and take her to a urologist. Better safe than sorry, those are some serious pains. I got my first UTI at 34 and I couldnt believe the pain I felt so to know my daughter had been dealing with similiar pains to that for years broke my heart. Get her in to the urologist and get to the bottom of it before she has to go thru anymore. Good Luck
Hi J.,
My 3YO has had a couple of UTI's. To get her used to drinking Cranberry, I started putting some in her Apple Juice. Now she will drink it quickly and get it over with.
She had one about 2 weeks before her last doctor visit and I gave her pure organic Cranberry Juice one time and the doctor said she was clear.
We have the same anxieties about public restrooms. She held it once on a 4 hour road trip. Today while at the park, I finally told her we would just have to sit on the toilet and go. She freaked out and I finally got her on the toilet and held her there. It was really scary for her, but finally she went and I just talked to her about it. Hopefully, our next trip outdoors will be a bit easier.
Best of luck to you.

J.,
My daughter is 4 and was constanlty running to the bathroom. Her panties were always wet and her urine had an oder. She did have an infection but WAY TO frequently. we did request a ULTRA SOUND of her kidneys and bladder. Found out her bladder is smaller than usual and she can not hold pee like a typical 4 year old. My doc put her on a LOW dose of antibiotics AND a medication for an OVER active bladder. It worked!! We see him this month for a follow up. He is a pediatric and adult urologists in upland Dr Anan. I know my daughter has oposite symptoms, BUT I know she hated going to the bathroom all the time. she always had that gotta go feeling, sometimes she didn't go at all.
Good Luck!!

I would take her in to get everything checked out to make sure there are no structural kidney or bladder issues. If that checks out, I would take her to see an acupuncturist. They do NOT have to use needles, they have other ways of stimulating points on kids. They can help tremendoulsy with urinary issues (kids and adults). And they can give her herbs to help with any UTIs. For home remedies, give her lots of watermelon. This will help dilute and cool off her pee so it won't burn.
Hi I don't have personal experience with potty training girls, because mine is only 2. However, several girls that my son (5) knows had UTIs when they were first potty trained. They are painful, and you really should have her checked out by a doc. First make sure they aren't any infections, and if not (thank goodness) then you can worry about other things that some moms suggested:-)
have you ever held your urine soo long that when you finally go it kinda hurts a little and then when you know your done you still feel like your going? your daughter could be feeing thins because she holds it soo long that her bladder isnt clamping down and feeling relieved right away hince why she feels like shes still peeing. a trip to a specialist may clear up everything. good luck :)
have u tried giving her Baby Jarro dophilus? u can get it at Wholefoods..she might need it..sounds like something is going on down there..whenever i get a yeast infection or anything bugging me down there i take Jarro dophilus and it goes away.
i wouldn't drag her to the toilet..i would offer her a reward..my son who is 3 was having accidents then we took him to his new school..and he heard us talking w/ the principle ...it's like he heard us talking about his accidents and then he never had one again..he just goes when he wants to go..
he did try to poop outside today b/c he likes to shock me..but i caught him and got him up to his toilet.
maybe offer her some ice cream if she goes ..and praise her a bit or talk to her about it..sometimes we forget to just talk about it..i think my son hearing an outside person talking about it at the school realized it was important enough for this woman to talk to us about so he stopped having accidents in his pants..maybe have someone else talk to her??
I do not know if this will help. One things kids have control over is their pee and poop. So, she may be controlling that. My middle child was a big pain in that department too. And is also strong willed (and that is a nice way to put it). A urologist can't hurt. Maybe he or she will at least give you some insight. good luck
Do you give your child multi-vitamins? My niece was sensitive to Flinstones vitamins & had all kinds of peeing issues and kidney problems. We switched to a health-food store brand instead and that solved the problem.
It just occurred to me that she was also had problems when we gave her certain mixed fruit drinks too -- anything with spirulina in it gave her problems.

When it causes pain to urinate, it generally means a bladder infection, this must be taken care of. Contact your pediatrician immediately. In the mean time try using cranberry juice, this will help to keep your child's bladder free from infection. Since is sounds like she may have this infection, she will need to see her doctor asap. Good luck.
