A friend went to the Nickelodeon hotel and LOVED it! Have also heard wonderful things about Disney cruises for the whole family!
I am looking for some vacation ideas. We did Disney a couple years ago and I don't want to do it again until all my kids can go on the rides. My boys will be 5, 7 and 9. I would like to go somewhere warm. Was thinking of the Nickolodean hotel in FL or maybe either the Nickolodean cruise or Disney cruise. Anyone been on to any of these or do you have any other places you love?

I have boys too and they tend to like outdoor adventures. How about Yosemite? Yellowstone?? A dude ranch in Wyoming?? Something manly?? :)
One thing I've done in the past is just pick a state and do a tour of that state. Just pick a state that appeals to you and research all the fun things there are to do in that state and then plan a route. You can work in things that everyone in the family likes. Do some educational things like museums, as well as fun things like an amusement park or zoo (which can also be educational). Family members can take turns picking places to eat and everyone can have some say in what you do. You can go to big touristy places as well as those best kept secret places the natives go to. Find local restaurants and places to go to so you can really get the flavor of that state. Attend a festival (the crazier the better!) or local farmer's market - they can tell you a lot about the place you're visiting. We've done that with our home state of Vermont, going to places we'd heard a lot about but had never actually been to, and ended up having a blast! I have a tour of New Hampshire all planned out for a future vacation and next summer we'll be joining my mom for a tour of Texas. Hope you have fun whatever you decide and be sure to tell us about it!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the outdoor adventures--- mostly Colorado, but also the Pacific Northwest. Some classic destinations include Canyonlands and Arches in Utah, or the Grand Canyon in Arizona. You could raft the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon-- awesome! In Colorado, the Rocky Mountains are your oyster.. so many mountain destinations with fun things to do like zip-lining, hot springs, hikes, gondola rides, mountain bike rides and charming mountain towns with shopping and history to take in, not to mention breathtaking scenery and views. Awesome Colorado trips: Estes Park and Grand Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park (between the two), which has a high 11,000 ft elevation up to and over tree-line drive over the mountains (incredible), Glenwood Springs, which includes a famous hot springs pool and a new adventure park with sky rides and other fun rides for the family all centered around the mountain town, Mesa Verde, where the ancient indian dwellings are, and I could go on and on. Kids love camping.. you could save money by camping in these destinations and enjoy the adventure.
Are you decided on Florida? How about Bush Gardens or St. Augustine? I have our first trip planned to Disney for next fall!
I really want to take my kids to Sea World. They love the fish and Mammals and they would really enjoy everything there. Haven't done it yet, but hopefully one of these years.
Disney Cruise would be awesome. I've always wanted to go on a cruise. I would check the cruise lines and see which one targets both kids and adults.
Oh, one of these days I'd like to go to the Mall Of America in Minnesota. That's the mall that has the amusement park inside it. Neato!
You all have fun and have a safe trip where ever you go. :-)
We are planning our 3rd trip back to Cinnamon Beach in Florida this coming summer. We LOVE IT! My kids are almost 8 and 6. We stay at Cinnamon Beach Ocean Hammock Beach Resort. It's actually a completely private and gated community. It's about 3 miles of beautiful cinnamon colored sand and the only way to it, is thru Ocean Hammock. It's in Palm Coast, FL. Very laid back quiet place. They have gorgeous homes you can rent and there are also condos. There are 2 pools.....one "quiet" adult pool and then one family pool. That one is beside the delicious pool side cafe and has the huge gradual entry pool, hot tub, full splash pad and kiddie pool. The food is delicious and they bring it right to your lounge chair! Not to mention the delicious fruity beverages! =0) The beach is amazing. Our kids would stay out there 24/7. The waves are AWESOME for boogie boarding! The sand is AMAZING! Shells as far as the eye can see and you can find tons and tons of sharks teeth! That's our favorite thing to do! There are also a couple areas of bed rock. At low tide, we explore the rocks and find starfish of all sizes! Big huge shells will get caught in those rocks, too! ALSO, sea turtles nest there. If you are super lucky and go out early enough, you will encounter the "turtle patrol" as they patrol for turtle crawls and move the turtle eggs to safety and then rope off the re-located nests. It is by far the most entertaining beach I've ever been to. I would LOVE to email you some of my pics if you'd like to see a bit more. =0) Maybe show them to your family and see if your hubby and kiddos are interested. Just PM me and let me know if you want me to do that. I love introducing families to Cinnamon Beach. It's like a secret hideaway nobody knows about! I'll also give you the people we rent thru and a discount code that will give you 10% off if you choose to give it a shot. =0)
***Oh! And dolphin galore! I can't believe I didn't mention all the dolphin!!! AMAZING*****
We did the Disney Cruise a couple yrs. ago. My daughter was 11. Went for 7 days to the Western Carribean. We were very disappointed. Everything was at a scheduled time, ran from one thing to another. Pool was so small and so full that you couldn't even extend your arms.. Very expensive, cabins were tiny!!! Take your money and go someplace all inclusive in the Carribean.
Our family loves beach vacations. Every year, we rent a house on Nantucket for at least a week. We love playing in the sand, gathering shells, flying kites, eating tuna sandwiches on the beach, reading and playing cards. A jigsaw puzzle is a must!
We've also had a blast touring some fabulous cities & exploring their history (our own Boston, Rome, Mexico City, more) and really enjoy national & state parks. My kids aren't much for amusement parks but we really get a lot out of just being together and enjoying each other's company in a new place.
Have fun!
