Hello mamas! I am looking to plan a family vacation to Destin this summer. We'd like to rent a house on the beach with 5+ bedrooms. Any suggestions of rental companies to use or not use? Anybody ever stayed someplace like this that you would or wouldn't recommend? Would love to hear your advice on where to start!

I third vrbo.com we have rented through them for years all over the country and never had a bad experience. It is the best way to go usually when you go through realty company there are added fees besides cleaning and deposit.

If money is not of concern I highly, highly recommend WaterColor. It is very family friendly & not nearly as crowded as Destin. We go every summer, august is our favorite month because most of the tourists are back home prepping for back to school. Vrbo is the site we rent through. We have never stayed on the beach. We rent a house a couple of blocks off the beach, near a pool & rent bikes. My son loves that we go everywhere on a bike. When I first got there& realized I would be biking everywhere I freaked out! After the first day I absolutely loved it & wouldn't do it any other way!!! Have fun!

Newman Daily is the largest and, from what I've been told, one of the best realty companies. We have rented a condo through them for Spring Break. When you rent through them, you receive some freebies along with your rental-complimentary dolphin cruise, miniture golf, beach service, etc. I love Destin, but July and August are my least favorite months to visit because it is so hot and crowded. June would be better, but if you don't have kids in school then plan a trip for Spring or Fall.
We rented "Reuniom House" in Seacrest Beach 2 summers ago. It was wonderful! It has 8 Bedrooms and sleeps 20plus people, there is an arcade on the bottom floor, a huge kitchen with 3 living areas and a Pool. It is not Beach from but about 300 steps to the beach. The website is reunionhouse.org (I think). We landed a 50 percnet off discount because someone cancelled and we booked thier week. So it was awesome! Rosemary Beach and Watercolor are excellent places and very family oriented. About 20 minutes from destin, but same great water! Hope you find what you are looking for. you can search thru all kinds of homes...we stay at frangista beach, you can get up to 5 or 6 bedrooms, on the beach and super nice!

It is vacation rentals by owner and you will save all the overhead fees and get a much better rate. We have rental 5+ houses through then with no issues and they will provide a contract.
