Port austin or Muskegon(beach for the baby). I don't know hotels but Muskegon state park, or hoffmaster state park in muskegon. Port crescent state park is fun.
We're looking for a vacation spot that is not expensive to go with our 10 month old. Any one have an idea?
Thank you for all the great ideas! Now, do you have any specific places (like hotels/cabin/campground) to stay?

Mackinac Island (but stay in Mackinac City or St. Ignace, there are lots of nice campgrounds and hotels)
Traverse City (Sleeping Bear sand dunes are nearby, but not sure how that would work with a 10 month old... TC has the cherry festival in July)
Interlochen (We stayed at the state park every summer when I was a kid. It's right across the street from the music camp, and there are concerts all time, some are free!)
Petoskey (BEAUTIFUL area, could hunt for the famous petoskey stones on several beaches)
In the UP there are the Taquamennon Falls, and some other hiking trails that are nice. Or you could go up to the Soo Locks in Sault St. Marie, that's fun too.
Try visiting the MI website for more ideas, and you can search by area of the state or the type of town you'd like to visit. Have fun on your vacay!

This is Michigan! Dozens of places. South Haven is on L. Michigan. The U.P. is full of places. Mac. Island. The Mystery Spot just west of St. Ignace. The locks, White Fish Point, the Irish Hills....
go for it!
Hi P.,
Grand Haven is quite nice. There is a blueberry festival in August, I think and there is tons to do. But the beach is nice all summer and they have a cute little boardwalk area with nice shops.
My SIL goes to Sauganauk with her family, they have a cabin there. I'm not sure if that's how you spell it, but she loves it there.
We went to Mackinack Island every summer when I was a kid and I LOVED it. It's a little further and a little pricier than Grand Haven, so not sure what type of vacation you are looking for. I would do Mackinack Island over Grand Haven any day, but sadly, my finances are the boss of me.... so Grand Haven it is.
Have fun!
all the places everyone mentioned are nice. michigan is a gorgeous place to live and visit. i would alspo recomend tawas and casevillle. there will also be a ton of little towns with funky fun festivals. caseville for instance has a cheeseburger festival!
beaches are fun. we used to go camping on the lakes
I'm with Brenna!
One year we went to sleeping bear dunes in Glen Arbor and it was awesome.
Another year when the kids were super little we rented a lodge in Grayling MI by this canoe rental place. It was SUPER cute. Your backyard has a river along it. It was awesome. Kids loved it. I could never live in Grayling but its great for outdoor stuff.
