I am planning on taking a local vacation in Orlando, around July. I am looking for hotels that are kid friendly and have lots of fun things. I looked at the Gaylord Palms and love there pool area for the kids but the price is out of our budget. Do you know nice hotels for less money with great pools and fun things? I would like to stay next to the theme parks, like Aquatica and Sea World and Disney. Also, has anyone stayed at a Disney Hotel? Which one was the funnest hotel? I would love and appreciate all of your input. Hope to hear from everyone soon.

By the way my kids are 8 and 3. Boy girl.

What can I do next?

I live in Orlando and we like to go to The Villas of Grand Cypress. These are "condos" on a golf course and you can use the facilities at the main hotel (Hyatt RegencyGrand Cypress) which has an awesome waterfall/grotto pool w/ slides that my 6 year old just loves! I like the condos because it is quiet and has a full kitchen and nice bathroom w/ big tub. You should be able to get a good rate in July. The Hyatt Regency Hotel may have rooms too. there is more to do there with a game room and marshmallow roast in the evenings, you can borrow bikes and canoes, and there are several restaurants, but they are pricey.
As far as Disney hotels go, all are good. we like The Carribbean Beach Resort (considered moderately priced). They have a really nice pool w/ slides and a splash pad w/ slides. And the main pool is near a food court/game room. this resort is huge and spread out and each section has its own smaller pool but you can walk to the main pool which is in the midle of the resort. They have buses that will take you anywhere on Disney property at no charge. My girlfrend and I took our six year olds there last August and we had a blast! We also like the Port Orleans Resort. Different theme than Carribbean Beach, but very similar. You can also rent bikes and such at these hotels. You might want to consider getting a cabin at Fort Wilderness at Disney. these are nice and quiet and there is a pool and you can ride bikes and they have marshmallow roasts in the evening (w/ Chip n Dale!) and play a Disney movie outside when it gets dark.
I've heard good and bad about the Nick hotel. (Pricey, food not good, crowded). But kids love it and its all about them, isn't it!
Good luck and have fun!

I sell vacation pkgs for a company called Blue Green Resorts We are affiliated with Bass Pro Shop. Our resort in Orlando is called The Fountains and it has a small water slide park inside it, plus it is very close to Disney , Sea World and Aquatica. We have vacation pkges staying at our resort in a 2 bedroom condo from $179 for 3 days and 2 nights, $349 for 5 days 4 nights, and $499 for 7 days 6 nights. you are asked to take a 90 to 120 minute tour/presentation of the resort and then you ar given $75 in gift cards for Bass Pro Shop. In order to get one of these pkgs you can do one of 2 things; 1. go to Bass Pro and fill out an entry form for a $25,000 shopping Spree drawing and wait for us to call you or 2. you can call our call center at 888-899-1210 and ask for B. and I would be glad to help you . You do have to qualify for the trip. 1. you must be at least 25 yrs old, 2. you must carry at least 1 major credit card. 3. you must make an annual combined income of $50,000. This is a very afordable way to vacation in Orlando. You can check us out at www.bluegreencorp.com or www.outdoor-traveler.com.

NICK HOTEL IS THE BEST, and I personally would not mind paying a few extra dollars. The pool alone is like a fantasy world for the kids, and they will never get tired of it. You can send me an email at ____@____.com, and I live in the area for 14 years. I will give you additional informations on hiring a babysitter for the evening, so you and the older child can go on big rides. You might also want to take a couple of evenings to do adult activities. I suggest that you hurry up, and call me. I will answer all your questions, and am familiar with all the Theme Parks. Have a Blessed Day!

Nick Hotel (Nickelodeon) has a fun pool with a water slide and they do activities out at the pool area wth the kids, plus they have indoor activities (not sure if those are just at night) --- I went with my daughter's girl scout troop and they had a game show thing where they had 2 families on stage answering trivia questions and people got slimed. They also have slime time out at the pool area where they dump a HUGE bucket of green water on everyone. The hotel was far from luxury so I assume it's reasonable, but the rooms were clean and they all had characters from Nick shows (like Spongebob) on the walls. Not sure if all rooms are this way, but the rooms we had were small suites-- a master bedroom with a king, a sitting area with fold out sofa bed and kitchenette, and a small connected room (with a curtain for a door) with a bunkbed for the kids. They had a restaurant area but there are also fast food places not too far away
