Are you looking for camping or a hotel kinda place? I assume with the baby a hotel would be easier.. There is a hotel right next to the Grand Geneva hotel in Lake Geneva with an indoor water park set up real nice for kids. I can't remember the name of it though! Wild wilderness or something. Of course we have a great outdoor water park here in Bolingbrook!

We love taking our 3 and 1/2 year old son to Timber Ridge water park in Lake Geneva, WI. The drive isn't too long and it's usually pretty reasonable. The rooms are suites complete with Kitchens so you can save alot of money cooking for yourselves. The price of the room also includes water park admission. We always have a great time! The web site is timberridgeresort.com and the phone number is (866) 636-4502. Check it out.

A little late but I have two childern (4 & 2) and we go to Lake Geneva Timber Ridge Resort (part of Grand Geneva) for a weekend trip. Not to far for a weekend trip (about 2 hours from Naperville). Great indoor water park, outdoor pool, and near shopping for Mom!

Hi R.,

I have a 2 year old and 11 month old and so far we have two favorite places we go to:
(1)is White Pines state forest in Ogle county. They have small cabins to rent with (gas) fire place. They have a cozy restaurant, playground, hiking trails, and beautiful scenery to enjoy. Camping is also available. There are larger cabins (Pine Creek Cabins) across the street from the entrance of the park with kitchens, 2 bed 2 bath or larger, swing, and fire pit.
(2) We also like to rent a house in Eagle Ridge Galena Territory and then go visit Galena’s Historic downtown.

Here are the web links to White Pines:
http://www.whitepinesinn.com/

THere are many different websites for homes in Eagle Ridge Galena Territory. (it's this huge area with new construction homes for weekend getaways. There are golf courses there too.)

If you get any more ideas from other moms, I’d appreciate if you can send them my way. :-)

Hope you find this helpful!

Barbara

I didn't know how far you would travel, but how about Starved Rock in Utica? I live in Oswego; I think it took us about an hour traveling Rt. 71 west. They have a lodge and my understanding is this summer they were to have an indoor (and outdoor?)water park. It's nice and scenic. S.
