Hi, I'm in the hunt for a pediatrician that is open to flexible vaccination scheduling. I am interested in a pediatrician that will not be completely one sided and old school about vaccines. I want a doctor that will be open about the possible adverse effects/reactions of vaccines and be honest about it and be open to the possibility that vaccines can be the cause of some problems. I need to know that my doctor is open to both sides of vaccines and not just be completely one sided. Down the line when it's time, I also want separate measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines and want a doctor who will do this for me. I do not want the combo MMR vaccine.

What can I do next?

Hi D., I saw this post and am just going through the same thing with my 2 month old baby girl. Did you find a good pediatrician?

D.,
Bay Pediatrics, Dr. Tim Vaughan ###-###-####
The are on East Bay Drive.

Dr Vaughan is in solo practice, with one nurse, and people running the office (one is his wife :)) He has a flexible vaccine schedule that separates ALL the vaccines. No two are given on the same day - including separating the MMR. I have also taken some vaccines completely off that schedule and he has been fine with that. I think the main thing for him, is he wants parents to be educated. He doesn't mind us deviating from the norm if we are not doing it "blindly". If you want to talk further you can email me ____@____.com

Our ped, Dr. Tim Vaughan, is very open-minded. He offers a delayed vax schedule and is willing to un-bundle the MMR on request. He's located in Largo, on East Bay between Seminole (Missouri) and Starkey (Keene). Their number is ###-###-####.

Not sure where you live, but I see Dr Jackson Curtis, and i'm sure others will mentioned her too. We do selective vaccs, some but not all, and will possibly do some when she's older, but maybe not. she listens to parents!

Hi D.,
My son goes to Dr. David Berger in north Tampa. http://www.wholisticpeds.com/

He is a wholistic pediatrician specializing in children on the autism spectrum. He will vaccinate, or not, depending on your choice. There are some vaccines he supports and others he ~appears~ to not, such as the MMR (he won't come right out and tell you not to do it).

He is very thorough and detailed during visits and will discuss whatever your issues may be. I have never felt rushed during an appt. He has a great bed-side manner and is wonderful with the kids.

The only downside I have found with his practice is that he does not deal with insurance at all so you would have to file your own claims. Also, he is becoming pretty high profile, having been on many local news programs in the last couple years and so is becoming harder to get an appointment with.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you're near Riverview, Dr. Heather Thole is just who you're looking for. Her practice is called WeeCare for Kids and the phone number is ###-###-####. She's amazing! Because of her respect for parents' opinions of vaccines, she has had much opposition. She doesn't really share her opinion about it, but she really makes sure that she respects what the parents want. Good luck!
