Valentine Dinner Food - or Pink & White

We usually celebrate V-Day with another couple. This year we won't be able to get a babysitter so they and another couple will be coming to our house on the 12th. What sounds like a fun dinner? The other woman suggested a pink / white theme but I'm clueless. Any fun ideas?

What can I do next?

You could do corned beef, it's pink. Mashed potatoes for the white, or some type of white sauce for the beef. You could do a strawberry-walnut salad with strawberry type vinagrete/dressing (strawberries are sort of pinkish, especially in a dressing). That's all I can come up with.

I do catering so we are always having to incorporate holidays and special or personal decors......I would do a normal dinner....dont think too much about it...since there will be 3 couples total, a taco bar would be fun, or lasagna (seafood lasagna is wonderful and as an appitzer you can do shrimp cocktail plus you can make it ahead of time) (allrecipes.com has wonderful recipes..just make one that has 4+ stars)
However to incorporate Vday I would get a nice red or pink tableclothe and sprinkle Vday confetti on it or have a dozen rose centerpiece. Then I would have a white platter with a RED dessert, or a red platter with a pink or white dessert. Rather than focus on Red, pink or white main courses foods and potentially sacrificing flavor, I would make a kick butt tasting dinner and just decorate with the accents. The kids can help you decorate the table too. Then put tealights around the tablecloth to set the romantic flare and light them before they come over.
OH and dont forget the napkins..If you know how to fan napkins, they make a setting look pretty and you can alternate with pink, red and white napkins. If you are short on time, go to Sams or your local grocery store and buy one of their cakes or desserts and put on your platter.

You can make red foods and pink foods - any kind of red meat, or food that is literally red like tomatoes, red peppers, salmon (which is kind of pink). You can make spaghetti with meatballs (the meatballs for the red meat, and the red spaghetti sauce). Or you can make a heart-shaped pizza, which has red pizza sauce, and you can put tomatoes on it and cut it into a heart. You can serve the pizza with a salad with red peppers and tomatoes. For dessert, make or buy red velvet cake. And of course, you must drink red wine! Have fun! Also, everyone wears red!

Well Valentines day colors are red, white and pink. There aren't a lot of dinner foods that are pink, unless you want to dye breads, etc.
For dinner I would do red/white. Like pizza with cheese in the shape of a heart (or maybe the toppings formed in the shape of a heart). Any kind of pasta dish with marinara.
For dessert I would do pinks. They have pink hot chocolate. You could melt pink candy melts and dip strawberries in them, or chocolate biscotti. You could make pink and white cupcakes.
Good Luck and have fun!
added: I just thought if you did want to dye the dinner foods, you could do a chicken alfredo and put some food coloring in the alfredo. =)

Fortune cookies for dessert would be cute. I tried this recipe the other day and it worked out great! http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Fortune-Cookies-So-Easy/Deta... You can tuck valentine-themed messages in the cookies. Also on the blog http://www.ourbestbites.com/2010/02/fortune-cookies.html it shows fortune cookies dipped in chocolate and valentine sprinkles.

Love the pizza idea. How easy would it be to make little heart shaped personal pizzas?

I like the iea of pink and white themed decorations.
Dressing in red.
Buying heart shaped foods (they have a heart shaped crackers in the deli section, heart shaped cookies and or cake for dessert).
Then just make some sexy food: short pasta w/cream sauce, lobster w/butter sauce probably too hard unless you buy it, a type of fancy salad they serve in a restaurant but you make it, fish, steak think romantic restaurant food that you would go out to eat. Have fun and happy Valentines day!

We always do a Valentine theme for breakfast: heart-shaped pancakes, with strawberries on top, pink yoghurt with strawberries or raspberries on top, pink smoothie and a decorated Valentine table. I also leave a little present/treat on the table the night before so when the kids wake up they have a holiday surprise (a tradition my mother started). Let me know if you want more details on how to make the breakfast.

Are you trying to do a fancy dinner like a restraunt? I would skip that lol. I would order or make a heart shaped pizza and a salad. maybe some heart shaped cake or cookies and then just a nice wine. Play some games or cards or just visit. It's really hard to make a nice (read fancy here ) dinner at home when your also trying to take care of kids and entertain others. So I like pizza or a pasta dish you can make ahead. Get some paper goods like valentines plates and napkins so clean up is easy and just enjoy your friends.
