*write words or phrases on hearts that make up a message. Kids have to put the message in order.

*how many words can they write with the letters in the word valentine

I've always done this with younger kids...but maybe the older ones would enjoy it as well.....

We have a Valentine's Day tea party each year - with boys and girls. We use a real tablecloth and real tea set. We make chai tea, which the kids love. We also have snacks - fancy yogurt parfaits, muffins, apples, V-Day treats (not all at once...but those are some of the things we've had over the years). We try to do a mixture of treats and fun, healthy snacks. I have a smaller group, so I get each of the kids a V-Day mylar balloon. Prior to the party each child has made a V-Day envelope to hold their valentine cards. We take time for each child to pass out their cards to friends' envelopes...then open their own. Then some free time to talk, play, snack.

The kids love it.

Check out this book. This woman was a guest on the TV show I used to work with and I've never seen such creativity in my life. She's like Martha Stewart for kids.

*Make heart-shaped sugar cookies or even cupcakes and let kids frost them and decorate them w/conversation or gummy hearts. Simple and fun for them. You can have different colors of frosting and different kinds and sizes of conversation and gummy hearts.
*Make old fashioned valentines w/doilies, glitter, construction paper, stickers, crayons, markers etc. Each child can make 2-3 and choose who to give them too.
*How about pink or red smoothies? OR strawberry milk?
*Have red/pink and white food items. You can always use food coloring...
*They can make a box for their valentine cards or treats using kleenex box or small shoe box. Same concept-have lots of items they can decorate with and they can take the box home and use at school if they wish.

Cookie decorating contest. Pre bake heart shaped sugar cookies, and take in different icings, sprinkles, gel colors, and let them make an art of it!

When my boys were in 4th grade, I always did their Valentine party so we could do chocolate fondue. Keep it in a crock pot and serve it in small individual cups. The kids love it! I use fruit and pretzels and rice krispies to serve with it. Very fun!

for Halloween I did pictionary and my daughters 4th grade class really enjoyed it. You could google valentines words or make up your own list. Like heart, cupid, etc.

I have done Bingo before and the cookie decorating is always fun.

I would probably google game ideas to come up with more suggestions.

You could also do something like decorate or make valentines and send them to soldiers or something that might be fun and meaningful.
