Hi there. I just wanted to see if any of you have any new, good, creative ideas for me. My BF and I have been dating for about 6 months. We are pretty serious, but this is a long distance relationship (we live about 150 miles from one another). I am not going to get to see him on Valentines Day, but I will see him this weekend and the weekend of the 23rd. Anyway, I am unsure of what to get him or what to do for him. I love to cook and could do that, but when we I am there, we never eat at his home, we just don't have the time to do it and I am looking for something different...I could always do cologne, but again... that is kind of boring... so please help! Thanks so much!!

What can I do next?

Hi S. -- I love personal gifts. I was a young mom at 18 and did not have much money either. when my daughter was 3 her dad and i actually got back together and we have been married now for 15 years. Really special! Valentines day for us has always been very NON materialistic -- no flowers and no gifts. Only from the heart. No money is ever allowed to be spent -- unless we go to dinner together. So...here are some of the things we have done for valentines day -- we have written letters to each other. lots of photo gifts have been done. For example on our 13th year i did a photo thing of 13 photos and then did a bullet point list of 13 of my favorite memories together with him. my daughter gave her boyfriend a little "autograph book" like thing to her boyfriend on valentines day full of different little quotes and sayings between the two of them -- that you know would ONLY MEAN something to them and amongst them were also on different pages -- places that they had gone together and or memories they had made -- each page just had a one liner and neat swirlies or fun designs with markers. Maybe 2 pages had a cute photo on it as well. HE LOVED IT! I hope these ideas are helpful!! If you need more or want more -- just email me aat ____@____.com

Personally I love reading letters from my husband, more than all the flowers/candy/gifts that he's given me. He used to give me cards with all the "mushy" writing, and while I'm sure he felt that way, that's not how he talked. So then he started writing me his own cards and I smile every time I see them.

Just a note, that we don't typically celebrate Valentine's Day. Aside from saying "Happy Valentine's Day".

I made my husband a Valentine's day box....like the kind we made in grade school while we were doing the long distance thing. Everyday for about a month before Valentines day. I put a little note or card in it with a message of how much I loved him or a memory I had of him that day. He said it was the most thoughtful gift he has ever recieved.

Give your BF something from the heart. As to what that could be, I don't know. Because I don't know his taste. You could get him a gift card to one of his fav. places or something.
