hello
My first daughter (now 2.5 yrs) was a c-section non-emergency) after 18 hours of labor. I didn't progress (I believe that I got an epidural too early). I had my 2nd daughter, now 6 months, VBAC, after 21 hours of labor and 3 hours to push her out (no epidural this time). I do not regret my decision one bit. For one, the 2.5 yr old would never understand why mommy had to rest so much (I hated the recovery from my c-section) and I did not want to get "cut open" again. My doctors knew I wanted to try for the VBAC and were willing to let me try, but when it came down to it....and such a long labor, it was the nurses in the hospital that really kept me motivated and kept my doctor out since both me and my daughter were basically doing fine (i was exhausted). Make sure when you go into labor (and are at the hospital) that you clearly tell your nurse(s) your intentions. They are a wonderful support!!
The recovery from the VBAC was so much better than the c-section. The day home from the hospital, we all went to dinner! It was great!
I also was so against having the 2nd c-section (I just HATE surgery of any kind). Unless there is a true medical emergency, GO FOR THE VBAC!!
