Looking for suggestions for fun and economical places to hold my son's 7th birthday party...Do you have places you liked? Were there others that you didn't? I'm looking for input, good and bad of places suitable for 6 and 7 year-olds. Would also be great to know what these places let you bring in (decorations, cake, drinks, other food). Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice

Oak Brook pool was nice had son's birthday there this year (6 Yo)

But my top recommendation would be.....Next year we are having our son's 7th bday party at the russell military museum in Russell Illinois (off 94 near Wisconsin border) We are letting our son pick 3 friends to go with us. You can order pizza kids get a dog tag and a ride on a real tank. They also get to hang out look at all fo the military vehicles and climb on some. We will have parents drop off kids at our house and then take them to the tank place for the party and drop them off at home. We have a SUV with third row....so we will allow him to fill up the car with kids. We went to this place a few weeks ago and it was so much fun.

Hi N.

Most Park Districts have rooms for rent, some restaurants also have private rooms, there is also some covered shelters in places like Naperville's Riverwalk.

I work as a Magician in places like this all the time. I don't know the costs of renting such places.

Another idea is having a Magician perform at your home, it may also be more cost effective & you can have as many kids as you want.

Please check out my website for more details. www.paulleemagic.com

Good luck to you.

Pottery painting places
Cosley Zoo
Willowbrook Wildlife Center
Pizza places
Park district (they do pottery, outdoor, etc- call and ask!)
Indoor pool parties (YMCA, local gyms, park districts)
Monkey Joe's/Chuck E Cheese/arcades
Kidstown (Wheaton)
Comic book stores (?? Maybe)
Skating rink- roller/ice
Mini golf
Park
Museums
Farms/riding stables
Paintball
Laser tag
Train station
Renting a town hall or park district room for your own theme/games

Those are just a few. We did a horseback riding party for my daughter and all the kids loved it. We used Kingway Farm in Winfield. Chuck E Cheese type parties are nice because you can just let the kids run wild and everything is included, but it's VERY noisy and hectic, so it depends on his personality whether he would like something quieter/calmer. Places where all the food is included are really tough for those of us w/food allergies to attend as well, so that might be a consideration.

We did a jumping house or jumpzone or jumping jimney for that age. The kids got to run and sweat and I didn't see them til our guide said cake and juice time. It was great.

We haven't been there yet, but an 8 year old neighbor went this year and said he loved it!!!! It's called Extreme Trampoline (in Carol Stream). The site has pictures and everything.

My son's party was at Game Pazzo's on 63rd and Belmont this past year (6 year olds). It was an all boy party 10 kids (which is their minimum). It was around $200.00 but included pizza and drinks as well as 1 hour game time 1hour eating time. I brought in cupcakes and some balloons. It sounds expenive, however after checking out alternatives, some were a little less costly but with bringing in food was more work and wasn't saving a significant amount of cash. I had a party one year at home, by the time you added in the food and bouncy thing etc, it came out about the same cost with A LOT more work. PS....all the boys loved the party. I thought it was boring just playing video games. But its about the kiddos!
They have a private party room with games in the room and they are able to use a bank of games right outside the door. The bathroom is adjacent to the party room. We had it on a Sat afternoon and the place was pretty empty, so it was easy to keep an eye on the kids with 2 adults.
