Very Wide Fitting Shoes?

My 6 year old boy has the biggest and widest feet ever, he needs a size 6-7 and as wide as possible, I can't find a local store that stocks shoes to fit him, the colsest Clarks for children is Orlando, any suggestions. Where has a good range of decent quality wide fitting shoes? Would I be better going for a small adult than large childrens maybe? He is also a toe walker so we like something strong and sturdy that stops him doing that. We've tried sketchers, most shoe stores locally etc. HELP!!!!

Thanks Moms:-)

So What Happened?

Ordered from zappos they only had a few choices but they were here within a few days, reasonable price and fit perfect, he loves them and I'm happy they fit well and are a quality shoe. We will be ordering again! Thank you for all your responses. xxx

My oldest grandson has big and super wide feet. I put myself in charge of shoes (since XXW shoes are expensive) and have had great luck with zappos.com. Going up in size doesn't mean they are going to be the correct width. Plus going up in size means they will be longer which can cause issues with little kids tripping.

Do you mean a 6-7 in toddlers or big kids?

Check Stride Rite. Or Zappos.com
Both of my kids have super wide feet.
And this is where we get their shoes.
They are on the expensive side but are very well made and worth the price.
My son wears an XXW and has since he was of walking age.

I would try this store on line, called Star soft. they have excellent shoes for wide feet. It is also important that he wears kids shoes, their feet are shaped differently.

Try finding something online at shoebuy.com. They have a good selection. At least they let you do free returns even if it's a little pricier. Also zappos - I agree about that, they have a lot of styles. Lastly, check for online coupons at retailmenot.com or search online for the name of the store along with the words coupon code and that way you can get discounts or free shipping. Good luck!

If I may make a suggestion from a developmentalists point of view. You need to attend to his toe walking beofre anything else. It is a neurological soft sign if bigger things. HIs primitive reflexes like Babinsky and Foot Tendon Guard are not integrated. The whole body system is challenged when a child toe walks. This could be the reason his foot is so wide to begin with. Merrell has wide shoes for adults so maybe they do for kids.

Stride Rite at the Prime or Premium outlet!!!
You can go to the full price store in the FL mall as well, but I just go to the outlet and try to catch a good sale!!
My son is wide with too!
Also the VANS brand have a wide base and are typically more roomy! Good luck!

My son had very wide feet. Stay away from Stride Rite, they tend to cut narrow (their sales people have told me this a number of times), and their regular shoe is typically what a normal narrow would be. We have had good luck with New Balance. I love zappos. I order him 3 pairs at a time, try them on and then ship back the ones that don't work out for free. They also come in only a day or two. Do the local shoe stores have any advice as to where you should go? Usually the sales people may not know but the manager or owner should be experienced enough to refer you somewhere and they can give you advice as to whether to move to an adult shoe. I am not sure if boy's shoes are sized differently than girls, but my daughter is 7 and wears a size 2 and has a relatively large foot, so I can imagine that a size 6 for a 6 year old is very large.

We use stride rite,, Zappos and new balance too for my sons wide feet...I'm hoping there's a day I can justbuy regular shoes for him! We found a new balance pair we love and basically buy it in every size since we know it works and fits him well.
