I am confused by your question. The second sentence isn't complete. Are you saying she's 5 months old? If she's that young she's supposed to be waking up every few hours to eat. Her tummy is about the size of her fist. SO it's normal for her to be waking up. It's also normal for her to be seeking that body to body comfort. She's still little enough to remember being surrounded by you.
If she's older, a toddler between 12 and 24 months then she's not old enough to talk and tell you why she's waking up and if it's pain, a bad dream, hunger, thirst, etc....so you just have to figure out what she's wanting by what puts her back to sleep.
If she's 2 or older she should be able to let you know some sort of answer when you ask her why she woke up.
Once you give us more information perhaps we can be more specific.
