Walking Baby Shoe Size

I love the squeaky shoes and I want to get some for a baby shower but I don't know what size to get. I got some for my sisters just born baby for when she start walking in a size 4. I think that is a safe size. The shoes that I am looking at now for another baby only come in a size 3. Is this going to be too small. Can someone share with me what size their newly walking baby wears. My littlest is 4 and I don't remember what shoe size he was in.
Thank you

My son started walking at 10 months and wore a size 5. I think that's probably a little larger than normal. However, we have gotten so many gifts of shoes and they have all been too small so I would really recommend asking the parents or erring on a larger size (maybe a 5) and knowing that he/she will grow into them!

My 20 month old is wearing size 5, when she was walking I believe she was only wearing a 3. But I am aware she does have small feet.

Neither of my two (one boy and one girl) walked until a year. Both of them had a first walking shoe in about a size six. My son until this day has extra wide feet -- as a toddler he could only wear shoes in an XXW. While it is a nice idea, I do think shoes need to be fit properly so they are hard to get as a gift.

every baby has a diffferent size foot. have the parents measure the babys foot. My sons were in differnet sizes. one wore a 5 and the other a 4. so i dont think there is a standard "first walking" size. My baby is 11 months and wears a 4 and doesn't walk.......

My 10 month old measures a 4. The girl at Stride Rite recommeded putting him in a 4.5.
He is almost walking.
Everyone says he is big, but from what I see, he is pretty average.
Hope that helps!

My DD is 10 months old and walking, and wears size 3. They are just a little bit too big for her.

My daughter wore a size 2 when she started walking. The size 3 is fine. The baby may be a 2 or 3 when they start walking so they will fit in that size soon.
