I have a one year told daughter named Alyssa (Ally) for short. Alyssa has been a crawling since about 6months, She picked up on that very quickly before we went to Florida in November of last year. All of a sudden she has decided that she wanted to walkl on her knee's I was unsure of it was safe for her to be doing that. I have never seen any other kid do that. I am a previous care giver for children and the 2 that i watched before her never did that?
She is right on tract for everything else. She is starting to let go of things and stand on her own.
I just didnt know if it was normal for her to be doing that. Has any one ever seen that before because i have not .
crawling on her knees? normal, & if you mean like "walking" on her knees, thats what my (just turned) 1 year old is currently doing, along with cruising. Sounds normal, if I understand what your asking.
My son did this.. I think they like the upright feeling, but it also feels a little safer for them since they are not up as high and more stable since the center of gravity is lower. No worries! She'll figure it out soon enough and then she'll be running, LOL!
My daughter just turned one and is not walking yet. She crawled at 7 months, pulled herself up at 10 months, and cruised along furniture at 11 months.
No, knee walking is not bad for them. My oldest also did that and my daughter does now.
My friends daughter also knee walked before she walked.
I have always heard that as long as she is trying to be mobile, then there is nothing to worry about. I have seen kids who scoot around on their butt, do the 'stinkbug walk' instead of crawling, go from scooting to walking with no crawling at all. I wouldn't worry about it. Just get some good videos. :)
Babies try out lots of things and she's clearly growing and moving into new, more independent behaviors. Nothing abnormal about the path she's taking between crawling and walking. The fact that she's trying to figure this out is part of the answer to why she's hard to get to bed at night. Her mind and body are working hard on how to accomplish walking. This is all temporary.
My youngest does that sometimes. She's a LATE late walker, just started in her 18th month, and she tends to do it from crawling, and then will stand up and walk. Its not a major way for her to get around, but something she does on occasion. Its just as safe as walking, maybe safer since they're not up as high! :)
