Hey Mommas!!
I need help. My 11 year old daughter has developed a "filiform" wart right on the entrance of her nose. Pardon my description but it makes her look like she has a "booger" right there. She is starting school shortly, and I dont want kids to tease her about it, so I want to help her get rid of it. I think over the counter wart removers will work but I dont want her to breathe in all the odors. She had a wart before on her finger, so I dont know if she is just prone to warts. I researched on the internet and found that you have to be very careful with a wart on the face because it is very sensitive, especially on the nose. Is there any home remedies that you all know that would help me help her get rid of it? I would really like to take care of it myself without having to take her to the doctor. Any Suggestions? Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it!!

What can I do next?

I would not hesitate and take her to a dermatologist. I understand a DIY method but this is her face you are talking about. Her skin is more sensitive and what if she had a bad reaction to a DIY and had to go to school with that result?

A Dr. visit would be my suggestion.

I was just at the doctor two days ago for a wart with my son. She lanced it and used a blistering agent on it (but it is on his hand). She did say warts are very common in kids and most clear up on their own. She also recommended covering it with duct tape every night as your body registers that as foreign and send antibodies to that spot.

But, like others said, I would probably take her in since it is on her face. Good luck!

Hi there T.,

I'm not sure about home remedies; but if it were my daughter, I would take her to a pediatric dermatologist and have it removed. I work with a pediatric dermatologist and there are several ways to rid the wart without harsh chemical or the smell. Check out Children's dermatology clinic. Since the face is so sensitive, I would recommend a doctor. Good luck,
J.

Well they do have the wart medicine where you can freeze it and it will come off. They actually sale that over the counter. You can gently turn her nose where the wart will appear and then apply the meds. I would imagine that it may actually hurt a little. When I was younger and had warts, the wart meds would kind of make the wart hurt until it fell off.
Other option would be to smother it with duct tape. But she certainly couldn't go to school like that.
Other suggestion would be to take her to the doctor. They may can lance it off instead of using chemicals.

I learned the other day that the virus that causes warts never go away. Your daughter will be susceptible to them for the rest of her life. You can go to a dermotologist, or you can even bring it up with your daughter's primary care physician. Doctor's have no problem with the over-the-counter treatments, but it may be different since it is on her face. As someone else has said before, do not get them burned off. My husband had it done on his hand and they actually caught his skin on fire!

My son had one on his nose. It would not go away with treatments, that or it would come right back. We ended up going into the doctor for about 5 weeks in a row and treating it. We haven't seen it in a few months now. It was very painful!, but so worth it. We tried the home stuff, but he didn't do nearly as well for us as he did for the doctor. The doctor who treated him said it's very painful there. He's had one. He also said they're very difficult to get rid of because of all the blood supply to the face. GL! I know it's not fun!

While I can appreciate that you want to take care of it yourself, the wart is on her face, on her nose, and given the fact that you read that one needs to be careful with the face and this area this is not something you want to take any chances with. Take her to a qualified dermatologist and get a medical opinion. It may be easier to fix than you think or it could be harder but you aren't a medical doc and have no way of knowing either way. The internet is a great thing but it's not a qualified medical opinion.

I'm not sure if this will work but I have been using apple cider vinegar on my daughter's warts and it is nothing short of MIRACULOUS. It also is pain free. I dab them morning and night and they are slowly but surely shrinking and going away. (This is following many many other remedies.)
