I've had Maytag washer and dryer front loaders for about 4 yrs and LOVE them. My washer has the hot water heater thing on it that helps out with towels, sheets, etc when you want it hot, hot. I can comfortably throw in a comforter and things you might normally take to an outside wash place. The spin cycle does get out much more water and my drying time has been cut in half.

As far as the HE detergent, I have not seen where it is more expensive. It just depends on where you shop. I like All brand and I find it about once every 2 weeks at Kroger or Tom Thumb on sale for $3.99 for the concentrate. Someone has a deal every week and you can more than likely find the brand you choose. I have seen Tide, Cheer, Gain, etc. When I see one of the deals I just stock up on 3-4 bottles. I love the small bottle All.

If I were in the market again, I would certainly go with another Maytag. Maybe I am jsut lucky but we have had no issues with it whatsoever. I also have all Maytag appliances through my house and love them.

If I could buy a different one I would. The front loaders tend to get stuff stuck in the bottom rim and it constantly smells no matter how much airing out and bleach and cleaning out. It supposedly saves water but we have not noticed a difference in our bill. Plus you usually have to buy the HE type of detergent and it's more expensive.

We have Whirlpool and LOVE them. It is so quiet and is SO SMART. I actually enjoy doing laundry. We do not have the pedestals and they are just fine without them. I have built in storage cabinets and the only use I would have for the pedestal would be for height and I couldn't afford another $250 each, at the time. Anyhow, Front loading is the way to go. Be aware that you will have to purchase different detergent for 'HE' machines. We use Melaleuca so it did not matter. If you have anymore questions please feel free to message me.

Front load is the way to go. We had a front load washer in our rent house and just bought and moved into our house and I couldn't have anything but front load because I was so spoiled. Mine are frigidaire and I love them. I got them at a scratch and dent in Allen. I got a great deal too, both the washer and dryer, pedestals, and delivery and taxes for around $1600! Good luck.

my husband sells these, and says if you can, go with the LG. An edit in response to the post on the mildew smell. Hubby says with any front load, you should leave the door open overnight once a week to air out. They are sealed, unlike a top load, so the moisture just sits.

Arlington Used Appliance on Pioneer Parkway was where we just purchased ours. It is Frgidaire, black front loading washer and dryer. We got a great deal in the scratch and dent section. I love them. I noticed my clothes even smell fresher. They save you money on electricity and water. I hate doing laundry and maybe it is just the newness. But I have been doing laundry almost everyday since I got mine. My husband says me getting a new washer and dryer is like him getting new power tools. Good luck!

We have a front loading and they are actually stackable. I came across the sales receipt the other day. Together they were about 1500 about 10 years ago. We haven't has a single problem. They are much more energy and resource efficient. They only use the amount of water necessary to wash the load, which I only found out recently when talking to my sister about how there is no load size selector. Also, it has totally kept our clothes in awesome shape. I have to tell you I don't think we could even afford a 1500 washer dryer now, but I think it has been worth every penny. I think it is Kenmore.

We are on our second front loading washer and I love it. Much more energy efficient, uses less water and less soap. Spins clothes so fast it take less time to dry. Also great because you can wash more at one time. Great for rugs and linens. I can even wash a king size comforter in mine. Also gets clothes cleaner and doesn't cause as much wear and tear. We started with the Maytag Neptune series. Had continual problems with it. Get shorting out circuit boards. We finally got tired of fighting w/Maytag over it and decided to switch brands. We purchased the GE Profile version. It is now about 5 years old and we have had NO problems what so ever with it. It is also a lot smaller cabinet than the Maytag so it fits in our laundry area better. Seams to be alot quieter than the Maytag, too.We live on a farm and have twin 4 year old girls so we do alot of laundry. I will definitely continue to buy front loading washers.

I have had the Whirlpool Duet for about a year and I love it! I actually like doing the laundry and my 4 year old loves to watch the clothes go around. I'll never go back to the old top loader.

Hi. We got Maytags from the Sears "scratch & dent"/outlet center. They're awsome. Just always make sure you get the "scratch" not the "dent". They're bigger and more efficient. The only drawbac to using the center is you need to be able to take it home yourselves. Otherwise, you'll just need to shop around. Either way - you'll love them. My only piece of advise would be that the clothes do seem to get more wound-up in the washer so just shake them out as you transfer to the dryer and they'll be less wrinkley.

We own LG's Front Loaders and I really like them. The only problem I have faced is the mildew smell that the washer has. The clothes are fine and I can wash a load and dry a load in about an hour. It really does save time. It has been a great investment.

We just recently bought an LG front loading washer and matching dryer. I have been VERY impressed with my new machines. The washer determines it's own water level so no water is wasted and the dryer determines the moisture level of the load and determines how long to dry. Dry times are much shorter than conventional machines however wash times are considerably longer so time wise I'd say you come out about the same. They are wonderful at stain removal. They got all of the baby food out of my son's bibs with no problem and are much better at removing grease stains than my old set.

I would highly reccomend a front loader but do some internet research concerning which brand. AFTER purchasing ours, my husband went online and read some owner reviews of our model and found out that the seal around the washer door has a tendancy to mold/mildew and leave a musty smell in the washer, wash room, and clothes. To remedy this we dry the seal after the last load of the day and leave the door open.

I'm so glad we made the purchase and I hope you're able to get something you'll be happy with.
