Be prepared to toss them if you try it.
I would air fluff with a fabric softener sheet if dust is the issue.
Or use a Dryel kit, maybe?
Good luck!
Talk me down!
Has anyone tried machine washing rayon acetate drapery that says 'dry clean only'?
My problem is that there are 4 valance panels for EACH window and they are caked with the dust and oils from the house. I did have them dry cleaned years ago but prices have went way up and I am looking at 12 valances alone so we're talking $$$$.
I've had them a long time and can not decide if they are an acceptable loss. If I knew that they would have been into the washing machine by now.

Dryel kit all the way!
They usually shrink and wrinkle and you can't get wrinkles out of the fabric.
Try the dryel or air dry them to get the dust off.
Good luck to you.

I have never washed rayon acetate draperies... But in the early 90s, I had a rayon acetate dress that I used to hand wash in cold water.
I recently tried the "dry clean at home in the dryer" method for a dry clean only bed spread. They were on sale at Menards for like $5. I like the result- not as good as dry cleaning but a definite improvement.
