Washing Tysilk Stuffed Animal

My son has a stuffed dog whose exterior is made from tysilk. Does anyone have any idea how to wash it? Can I put it in the washing machine on delicate with cold water?

More Info: this dog is from the Ty company and is basically a large beanie baby but the fur is made of a material called tysilk (maybe their brand of silk?). The dog gets carted around and slept with so it is grungy and smells. LOL. I searched online and found a site where it says surface clean only. We have tried that and it hasn't really worked. I was wondering if anyone has one of these toys and if they have tried washing it in the machine. I am hesitant to do that.

What can I do next?

I've had to wash my D's stuffed animals now and then. She has a cute pink Ty brand Teddie that she loves. He's been washed a few times. She's also gotten vomit on stuffed animals so I've been forced to wash them-even a mermaid doll with yarn hair. I put the toy in a pillowcase and knot the end. Wash in cold water, delicate cycle. Check it out after, then put in dryer on low heat in the pillowcase. You can always hang it out to dry if it's still a little damp. I haven't ruined anything yet ;)

I've been forced to machine wash favorite animals after getting sick on them or something else. I have extra large zipping washing bags that I put them in. I wash them on a regular cycle in my front loading machine and the extra fast spin cycle to get as much water out of them as possible. I take them out of the bag and hand fluff all the fur otherwise it dries matted up. I hang them by the tush tag or ear or something and hang them in a doorway inside the house to dry or I'll put them on air dry if it's a larger animal. I have had all of them survive and look brand new.

If the animal is dirty then it is not a good toy for him to be playing with. If the toy is going in the trash or get washed you can go ahead and wash it on gentle then put it on a heater vent to dry. The forced air will dry it fine but not be too hot or toss it around in a dryer to beat it up. I often dry stuffed animals on a heater floor vent in a room not directly off the central heater unit.

Is there a website, for the toy company, you can go to and ask questions? Or click on a 'contact us' link? That is what I would do.

I worked in a fabric store and I never heard of 'tysilk'. So how you would clean it or care for it is a mystery to me.

I've washed many stuffed animals. I think I know which type of fabric you're talking about and suggest that you can wash it in the washing machine. I'd put it in a pillow case. And then dry it on low in the dryer. It takes the dryer to fluff it back up.
