Hello, ladies! I heard some people use a mixture of water and vinegar to wash windows. Do you know what the ratio is? Also, is it safe to use on mirrors? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I've done this and it worked very well. I think the ratio was about 1/2 and 1/2. I also added just a couple squirts of dishwashing detergent and mixed it all in a spray bottle from the dollar store. It worked very well and, yes, I did also use it on mirrors.

Youtube has some videos on washing windows. They said it was a 1 to 1 ratio of vinegar to hot water. I tried it this weekend at the SPCA and it seemed to work well. You don't need to fill a big bucket, but a little bit to wet your sponge. Use that to wet down the entire window and then squeegee it off or use newspaper. For really dirty windows you might need a squirt of Dawn dishwashing liquid.

I don't know the ratio, but experiment. Probably 1/3 vin. Vinegar has been a household staple since the beginning, and does a good job on any shiny surface.

I have used just straight white vinegar with lots of success. I always use it on my mirrors. To make it last longer I usually just do half and half. Also, if you wipe with coffee filters, or newspaper instead of paper towels it will reduce streaking (even with commercial cleaners) and leave a clearer surface.

I don't know about the water and vinegar....seems like I heard that somewhere along the line. But what I do know is that if you use coffee filters you won't have all the fuzz, etc left on the mirrors, glass, etc.

I use vinegar, but not in the actual 'wash' water, instead in the 'rinse' water.
I have two buckets: one with hot soapy water (e.g. some dish detergent) for the actual washing. Then a bucket with clear hot water with a squirt of (distilled WHITE vinegar) in it, for the rinsing. Then I squeegee (sp??) it dry and use a lint-free old dish towel to completely wipe it dry. The vinegar helps it from drying with streaks.

I don't have a specific ratio, I just squirt some into the water, probably about 1 part vinegar to 2 or 3 parts water or so.

And yes, I use it on bathroom mirrors, too, have had no problems.

N.,

I use vinegar and water on both windows and mirrors.

You can use 1 part to 1 part or 1 part vinegar to 2 part water. It is up to you. I also use it to mop my floors. I just pour in some vinegar to the bucket and fill it half way with hot water.
