Okay ladies, this is my first time to post a request. I have been married for 6 years and am looking to have my wedding dress made into a quilt. I know when I went to the Bridal Extravaganza there was a company that did that, but of course I didnt get their card and even if I had I am sure I would have lost or thrown it away by now. Has anyone had this done or have heard of this before? If so who did you use or have heard that offers this type of service. I have googled everything I could think of to find a place to have this done, but no luck. I really appreciate your help! God bless you all!

I would think they keep up with who the vendors were so that souldn't be a problem for them to give me the phone number.

The owner is Carol Phillips and she is very creative: she will turn your dress (or anything else, for that matter) into a quilt, pillows, a tote or whatever you want.
she is located at 8715 Katy freeway, in the same shopping center where Academy is.
you will LOVE the place, and maybe even get other ideas ...how about a quilt for your son with his school t-shirts through the years? that's what I DID, and my son LOVES it( he will take it to college...)

There is also a lady in Baytown named Kathy who makes lovely quilts, I'm sure she would be interested in at least talking to you to brain storm and get some ideas rolling. Her place is called Sunshine Quilts, she made quilts for my family (mom, myself, brothers, kids and nieces- 12 or 13 total- everyone different) out of my dad's shirts (dress shirts, Harley, Sturgis, etc.) when he died, it was amazing to see the things she and her daughter did with his shirts. You might try quilt shops...they carry names of people that do things for a charge. I might recommend my two favorite quilts shops that are excellent. The first is Creations in Kerrville, I know it is a distance but this store is the best for customer service and the things they have are outstanding.... I even took my grade school granddaughters there at Christmastime so they could see their decorations. Creations is 1013 E Main, phone ###-###-####. The other source I would rec. is The Quilt Haus in New Braunfels, 651 N. Bus. 35 in the Marketplace and their phone no. is ###-###-####. There are other quilt shops in San Antonio that might know someone...but give these a call first and see what you find.

I think a quilt from your wedding dress would be such a practical solution. Contact a local quilting group (ask at a fabric or sewing machine store) and search for women who love to quilt - they may even teach you!
A quilt, what a wonderful idea. I had mine turned into a blessing dress for my daughters but I might make a small quilt for each of them with the remainder. Thanks for the idea. As far as companies that do this sorry I don't know.

Or you could call the event organizers to see if they can give you the number.
Hi H., I would start by calling the larger bridal dress shops in the houston area. Places like Davids Bridal, just go down the line in the phone book. I would almost guarentee that one of those places know exactly what you are looking for. I would ask for the manager of the shops you call. Perhaps even look up quilting shops. That is the best advice I have!! I wish you much luck in your search.

As a quilter, I concur with the idea to check with a local quilt store. I'd prefer working with a person to a company on this one, and there are a lot of good quilters out there who do this sort of thing for a living. I had part of my wedding dress turned into my daughter's christening outfit, but the rest I've saved for quilting projects in the future. I think it's a great way to save the memory, much better than having some dress hanging in the closet forever. :-)
I can't give you any advice, but I wanted to tell you, what a great Idea that is! I was married in 1983 and my wedding dress hung in the closet taking up room for many years. I only had a son so , so much for him wearing it down the isle! LOL! I finally tried to sell it in several yard sales and ended up donating it to goodwill! Now I am remarried, I looked at my gown taking up a huge section of a guest bedroom closet just the other day. I thought I am not going to hold on to this for years and then donate it like I did the last one! I have been married a year and a half and it already doesn't fit me any more! So a quilt is sounding really good about now! Wish I had that first gown too! Mamasource has some of the best Ideas and advice don't they! Hope your quilt is beautiful!
We must have been at the same Bridal Extravaganza, because I remember that lady. You may need to go to another bridal fair and hope she is there. I think the price was over $300.00 to make the quilt. But any quilter could do that for you. Ask around at fabric stores, they may can recommend someone for you. Oh, just had a thought I know of a quilting store down the road from me. I will look up the name and phone number for you. Also, there is one in another town that does this too. Look for me to up date this.
