Hello! We were invited to a wedding shower and a wedding. I'm not able to attend either because our schedule is pretty much full this time of year...but I would like to give a gift card or money as a gift. Her parents attend our church but I don't know the daughter very well...what would be an appropriate amount to give? Should I give 2 gifts? One for the shower and one later for the wedding?

Also I've received a couple of graduation announcements in the mail...I know graduates need/want money, but how much should I give?

Thank you all so much!!

What can I do next?

You only need to give one gift for the wedding shower and if you don't even know her then I would give just $50.00. As for the graduation gifts it really depends on how well you know them. We usually give $100.00 to family and close friends kids and then $50.00 to those we really don't know very well. I hope this helps you.

A $50.00 gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond or Linen's N Things is always a good gift. It was one of my favorite gifts.

For weddings I always give at least $50.00. I don't think you need to send two gifts though because you are not attending. If attending, I would say two gifts...I believe you should give at least what they are spending on you and for a meal at a wedding for two adults and other preparation they would have at least $50.00 in it.
Graduations I give $25.00 and maybe more if I know them really well.

The amount of gift certificate I'd give for the wedding showere would depend on how close you are to her parents. If close, $50 is appropriate...it you are not that close, I'd do a gift certificate for $25. Bed, Bath & Beyond or Linens & Things are great places for GCs.

For the graduation gifts, again that should be based on how well you know the graduates & their families. Do not spend mroe than your budget will allow, especially if you are not real close to them. I personally think $50 is a little much if you do not know them well.

Don't stress over it. The fact that you are giving is what counts...not the amount!

God Bless!
