S.!.
Can you find out what cruise they are taking and get a gift certificate for them to do an activity, or a masage while on the cruise or something?
Just a little bit about my sister-in-law so you can help me figure out what to get for her. My sister-in-law is getting married. This is her second marriage. She is in her late 40s or early 50s and has grown children. her fiance is very well off - they do not need any of the traditional gifts that you would give for a wedding shower as they are already established with home goods. As her fiance is very well off, it would be weird to give them money, especially since we don't have any!
My sister in-law is not "girly" she does not wear makeup or fluff herself at all. She is more the birkenstock type. She does not like to cook. She does like to garden. She makes jewelry and sells it in stores in a tourist town. They do not drink alcohol. They both like coffee.
The shower will probably be very low key, as the wedding will be very low key.
The day of the wedding they are flying off to Seatle and then taking a cruise to Alaska.
Oh and while you are thinking of gift suggestions for the shower, if you have suggestions for what to give for a wedding gift - it would be greatly appreciated.
we are on a very strict budget and cannot afford anything too pricey
PS: I am not throwing the shower and I don't have anything to do with organizing it. I do agree with Krista, but it is what it is.
Thank you
Thank you for all the great suggestions. Now I have to decide which idea to use!

Just a question... if they don't need anything, why are you doing a shower? This is a legit question. The purpose of a traditional shower is to help the new couple set up their new home. If they don't need "stuff" perhaps a nice cocktail party to celebrate their wedding, inviting people to bring wine or other "bar" items would be more appropriate for her age and their station in life.
As for a wedding gift, I highly recommend a gift certificate to White Flower Farms. I am an avid gardener (inherited from my grandmother) and the quality there is exceptional. We got a $50 gift certificate as an engagement gift and purchased a beautiful set of perennials for our home that have flourished!
maybe get her a gift card to one of her favorite stores, or get her and her husband matching robes, for wedding i would do like a memory box and have your husband and her kids help put pictures of their time together and a few nice frames as well for them to put their own pics in
Are they spending any time in Seattle before or after the cruise? There is a special "coffee" tour that goes through the market and to different places since Starbucks and other coffee giants started there, so you could always look it up on line and pay for it ahead of time for them. It'd be fun, different, and all about coffee!
I do kind of like the bathrobe idea too. We just took a cruise and we both sort of wished we had bathrobes. If they have a balcony room this might be a nice idea.
Other than that, maybe a boring old gift certificate for a favorite restaurant, especially since she doesn't like to cook! ;)
Nice coffee mugs
A basket of high-end coffees or flavored creamers
New plush towels
Some waterproof disposable cameras for their vacation
Adult footie pajamas (gag gift. we did this for my cousin. lol)
Arrange for breakfast to be delivered the day of the wedding.

I like to give some of my favorite marriage or family books. "His Need, Her Needs" and "Power of a Praying Wife" are two of my favs.
I would suggest something personalized. An engraved frame for their wedding photo.
Or new towels with their monogram on them.
New sheets.
Gift certificate to someplace off the beaten track (not Walmart or Target, but maybe someplace like Pottery Barn or if you know of a cute shop).
Tickets to a concert or play for two.
Season passes to a national park or someplace you think they might enjoy.
A gift basket filled with fun stuff for the couple to enjoy (bottle of wine, picnic in the park kind of stuff (plates, glasses, etc.)
Have fun!!
my wedding gift is usually a very nice picture frame....with $$ inside it.
I know this is not an option for you.....so maybe just the nice frame.....or a set of frames to cover both gifts???
Since they're doing a cruise, what about a photo journal...where they fill in the journal as the trip unfolds....& then they add photos when they return.
Hope this helps....
A pretty night gown or a spa package would be nice.
Gift Certificate for a home store for the wedding.
