Weekender Lake House

I am interested in buying a weekender house on a lake big enough for boating and jet skiing. Does anyone know of any spots that might be of interest within a couple of hours from The Woodlands?. I am also concerned about the security of the area of the lake houses. Any information or suggestions are welcomed.I can just see a porch overlooking the lake and a happy family, with activities for all of us!

What can I do next?

Hi J.~

We have friends that own a Lakehouse on Lake Livingston which is about an hour and a half from Houston so closer for you. Their house directly overlooks the lake and has a jet ski and boat lift. The lake is not as busy as Conroe so plenty of room for all those great water activities. We've been there several times and we love it. The sunsets are to die for too!

You could try Lake Sommerville or very recently we went to Lake Limestone before Dallas. Very nice lake that had a some nice houses in the area. It doesn't seem to be as popular as sommerville, I was born in Texas and lived in Houston for 32 years and this was the first time I had every heard of Lake Limestone. It was a little hard to find the first time, but now we know where it is. It is 12,600 acre lake. Try www.lakelimestonrealty.com

Richland Chambers lake is about halfway between The Woodlands and Dallas, near Corsicana. It's a big lake in the country with some pretty nice houses around it.
