I'm curious...how much does your 6 month weigh? I have a 6 month old who weighs 12 lbs and weighed 6.15 at birth. Her brother was a lot heavier...so I am just wondering where other stand.
Thanks.

My daughter started off at a 'normal' weight of 7.11 After the first month, she quickly drifted down to the 5th percentile in weight but average for height and head. She is now a beautiful 5 y/o, 42" (normal) and only 35lbs. She's so willowy, elfin and petite... but very healthy and proportionate.

Every child is different and with the childhood obesity and diabetes epidemics in America, I'd not be worried about her being on the small side. If her eyes are sunken, skin is dry, when you pinch the skin on her wrist it stays pinched, and she's not having many wet diapers - THEN I'd worry about.

He doubled his weight so I'd say he's right on.

Very normal. Doubled his weight since birth! You're fine.

As long as your ped is not worried I would not worry. I have 3 babies and all grow at different rates. My oldest son was HUGE. My middle daughter is a skinny bean pole and my youngest daughter is Very good Size. Here is an example. My youngest is 18 months old and just had her apt.

She weighted 28lbs 9oz. My middle daughter at 18 months weighed 23lbs. Right now my youngests who is 22.5 months younger then my middle daughter is only about 2.5 lbs lighter then her older sister.

She sounds good to me and I only would be worried if the ped is.

As long as your baby is staying in the same percentile, there is nothing to worry about. And of course when they start to crawl and walk, they drop about 10%, also nothing to worry about.

My oldest was 100% for both height and weight. My youngest has been 15% weight and 75% height all along, until she started crawling, now its 5% weight. She is in 2T for the pj's with feet, and in 12 month for two piece outfits, and those pants can sag sometimes, lol! Every baby is different, don't try to make them fit into a curve, as long as they're happy and gaining weight! :)

DD is 5.5 mos and weighs 15'10".
DS was 15'6" at his 4 month apt. (Now, at 2.5, he's only 25.5lbs.)
All the kids in our family are big babies until they start moving. Then they just stretch! LOL!

My 6 month old son weighs 17 lbs already and was 7 lbs 15oz at birth (3 weeks early). I was concerned that he weighed that much already but our pediatrician just laughed at me when I mentioned it. He said since my son was already 29 inches long, he was just going to be a big boy like my husband (6-3 and 225 lbs). Now my older son was 7-11 at birth and weighed in at 16 lbs 5 oz at 6 months. Babies come in all shapes and sizes and your's sounds just right to me!

Well, my 9 month old is 13 pounds right now and I will not deny that is VERY underweight. He is gaining but VERY slowly. Our doctor has us come in every month for a well baby because of his weight.
