The best thing I know of is Herbalife Shake Mix because you can mix it into Milk, Juice, or even some kinds in water. You can also mix in fruits to make it like a true smoothie. Check out their website at www.Herbalife.com to find a distributor in your area.

Eat raw fruits and veggies and not so much junk food is really key to heath in general. Make sure he is drinking enough WATER... which is super essential!! Cut out aspertame or ANY of thoes fake sugar products because they are poison and can cause all kinds of weird side effects. And some of thoes energy drinks and vitamin drinks have asparic acid in them which is produced naturally from your body and shouldnt be added into a diet in excess. If he drinks red bull or anything like that cutting them out too will help. Combine protein and carbs together -- no protein alone--that will burn off weight. (he can have some of my extra weight for free!!)

If he would eat a banana, that is high in vitamins, should help his shakiness from not eating and gives energy. I used to be underweight as a teen. Wish I was now, lol, as a grandmother but I would add Carnation's instant breakfast into my milk at meal times and eat a meal with it. I did gain a little weight and it tasted good. Energy and snack bars if he would eat them would be high in calories I think. He needs to eat as vitamins are not enough and will cause health problems sooner or later.

I vote for the carnation instant breakfast. It taste great and has lots of vitamins. My Mom fought cancer for a year and this was the only thing she could eat. If not for complications from radiation she would have beat it with thanks to this keeping weight on her. She would make it with ice cream, add fruit and put it in a blender. Taste much better than ensure or boost.
Good Luck

This is very simple. With all the body builders I have associated with. The simple healty way to gain lbs is with peanut butter and bananas. Peanut butter with any fruit or even celery is healthy and nutritious.

I would advise against those “Bulk you up” products.
I always preach the same for weight gain or loss
the food pyramid. Yes, it sounds strange to go by the same guidelines to gain weight as to loose weight, but it teaches them the proper way to eat, and that will stick with them their entire lives. The only difference is if you want to loose weight, eat the smallest portion recommended (2 oz meat twice daily) and to gain weight, use the high end portions (4 oz meat per meal)
The light head effect may be a blood sugar problem, and if he is like any normal kid, it is hat he is eating or drinking that causes this. Protein is a very good source of energy. It keeps the blood sugar level very steady & level. Eggs & ham for breakfast. Banana for snack. That sort of thing. I had the same problem with my brother, he was going into 11th grade and was very short, and very skinny. He was also hungry all the time. So I made him eat a portion of raw veggies – Celery with peanut butter, something like that, then he could have a fruit portion, then a portion of junk food like chips; then he would start over again. My brother grew 7 inches in 7 months, then continued to grow at a half inch per month until he stopped. If he likes Beef Jerky, that makes a great snack he can carry & the extra meat will help bulk him up.
The work out is the key to bulking. Lots of reps with a light weight will “cut” and help people to loose weight. What your brother needs to do is lift as much weight as possible, even if he can only do one or two reps. Make certain he has a spotter! Making the muscle do more makes it build on itself. Just running won’t help, but add weights to his wrists, ankles, and even mid section will build muscle. He needs to find someone that looks the way he wants to look, and either ask them, or just watch what they do. Remind him to be patient with his body. Some people have been exercising all their lives – literally. I have always had body builders ask how I got my calves to look so bulked & cut at the same time, unfortunately, I don’t have any tricks for them. I saw a ballet for my third birthday & begged my mom to let me take lessons, and I practiced on my own for a year before she started me in ballet at the age of 4, my teacher insisted on making us do gymnastics as well to keep the body evenly muscled. My calves, at age 14 were the result of 10 years of ballet & gymnastics. Not that your brother can’t get his body to look the way he wants it to, just some of those kids have been “working out” since they were infants.

The best thing your brother can do is eat a sensible, heathy diet. He needs to understand that in order to gain weight, he has to be taking in enough calories to fuel his body and have excess for storage. If he is excersising, then he needs to take in even more. Breakfast is number one. Yogurt, milk or even cheese will help give him something to start with. If he likes eggs, try an egg sandwich or english muffin with egg and cheese. A breakfast wrap is easy and filling. Just add egg, cheese and salsa in a wrap. Also, peanut butter on toast is quick and filling. I sometimes add bananas for extra fuel. Tell him to look at labels and count the calories per serving. He could probably handle 2500+ a day, if his goal is to gain weight. Tell him to make sure he is eating enough protien to help build muscle. Junk food only puts empty calories and "junk" in your body. You can't expect your body to perform if it's only fuel is junk food. There are a lot of books out there. Get him reading! Good luck, R.

When I was pregnant, I completely lost my appetite. I would make chocolate shakes and add bananas, protein powder, and powdered milk to the ice cream and milk. It helped keep me going and was more appetizing than food.

I would recommend diet altering, no artifical sweetners or flavors, watch the suger & salt. He needs to add good nutrition to his lifestyle. I use a product called Zija that is all the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc that you need in a day in one little can. Go check out www.myzija.com/katbranch to view this product made from the Miracle Tree. You also have access the the main company website if you want to view more scientific info. Let me know if you have questions. Take care and good luck with journey to health.
