Weight Watchers - Minneapolis,MN

I exercise regularly and have a pretty healthy, balanced diet but run into trouble with portion control. I think I just need a bit of education and a kick in the pants to get myself on track and think Weight Watchers is a good idea, but I would love to hear what others who have done it think.

Did you go to meetings or do the online program?
What are the pros and cons of each?
Did you do the Core Plan or the Flex Plan?
What did you like about the plan you chose?
How soon did you see results?
Were you able to keep the weight off once you reached your goal?
Did you feel full after a meal?
Is there anything you don't like about Weight Watchers?
What do you like best about it?

Thank you for your help!

ADDED LATER:
My goal is 20 pounds.
How do you do the plan if you get pregnant?

What can I do next?

Hi C.-
My name is B.. I'm a wellness coach and a med. prof in heart surgery area. I'll tell you- the first thing to your complete success is your mind- you have to just say I'm going to do it. After that- you'll fully commit and whatever plan you use, you'll succeed.
If you live in the Mpls/St. Paul area (I live in New Brighton) I can do a shapescan on you- or if you're not local to me- email me at ____@____.com and I can do an averages profile over the phone for you- close but not as accurate to your body shape. It will give you resting metabolic calories burned, cal. for weight management, and more.
One thing to remember- don't "diet". Dieting is a short term thing and most people rebound from losing inappropriate lean mass to gaining more size with fat after. A shoe box of fat weighs only 3-4 lbs!! You have to use healthy eating habits and good nutrition for life. There are 5 key points to that
1)eating colorful food- darker fruits and veggies better, opposite holds true for meats
2) limiting white starch to one serving/day- tan doesn't belong in the diet
3) half your weight in water
4) correct proteins for your body shape, most women need 75gm
5) calorie in , calorie out- your profile will tell how much that is.
I can chat more with you if you want.
I obviously subscribe to a particular program/company, but don't feel any obligation to use our products. I do give momsource discounts and several have called for information and some do use what I do- but as a wellness coach, we offer training and education to anyone.
If you're interested in a personal profile/wellness evaluation, call or email.
And of course- have a fantastic mother's day!

B. J- 47yo mom of 6 yo twin girls, wife, indep. marketter, wellness coach, and perfusionist- now proud to sport a bikini after getting rid of my own kangaroo pouch from full term mult. pregnancy- and healthier than ever.

Hi,

I did weight loss...my goal was 20-30 lbs, not sure what yours is. It worked for me.

I went to the meetings in person (with a few friends-they help motivate you)
I did the flex plan because I felt there were more food options.
I lost weight the first week, most weeks I lost at least part of a pound, but I did have a few where I didn't loose any.
I got pregnant after about 4 moths of keeping it off...but I put myself on the plan (no meetings at all, just using the points book and what I learned from the meetings) after I had my second and I was able to loose all the weight again and thus far have kept it off.

I think it's a good program, especially if what you are looking for is learning the portion control (that was my issue too. Definately keep your exercize too, that's what helps keep the weight off after hitting your goal.

I did WW a few years ago, and it worked -- temporarily. I think it just didn't fit my personality, but that it would/does work for other people.

Did you go to meetings or do the online program?
meetings
What are the pros and cons of each?
actually going and talking to the same people each week holds you more accountable and gives you more support
Did you do the Core Plan or the Flex Plan?
I forget -- it was the one that's more like Atkins
What did you like about the plan you chose?
I had more freedom, fewer restrictions
How soon did you see results?
pretty soon
Were you able to keep the weight off once you reached your goal?
NO! AUGH!
Did you feel full after a meal?
good question, I don't remember
Is there anything you don't like about Weight Watchers?
it felt really restrictive and limiting.
What do you like best about it?
I liked losing 13 pounds. I only wish I could have kept it off, and not gained 7 more besides (so now I, too, need to lose 20 pounds)

Good luck to you!

Hi -
I did weight watchers a few years back and lost 35 pounds and got to my goal weight. Then I got pregnant - and 2 kids later, I'm doing it again myself. I would suggest doing the meetings if you haven't done the program before. Also, I always did better if I had to step on the scale in front of someone else. I did the Flex Plan - a lot more food choices. You should see results in the first week - I think the typical weight loss is about 2 pounds a week, but I'm one of those people that the first week or two on a diet I usually lose about 4 a week. The more fiber you eat in your meals the fuller you will feel, so it's up to you to choose your foods that will work for you. I'm usually still hungry the first week on the plan, but then I find better snack options that will tide me over (fruits & veggies). I really like Weight Watchers because you really can eat anything you want and it's easy to incorporate into you life (vs. ordering packaged foods, etc.). You shouldn't do any diet plans if you are pregnant. Best of luck with your goal!
