Were You Induced?

Hi Moms-

I have had a wonderful pregnancy up until this past week when I was diagnosed with a mild form of Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. I am now on complete bedrest (thank goodness for laptops) and have a good probability of being induced. Luckily, I am in my 35th week so there isn't much concern for our baby.

I was wondering if you were induced and if you could tell me your experiences? I will be delivering at Memorial Regional Hospital so I know I am in excellent hands.

Thanks!

CT

Hello CT ,
I had a (2) Great Pregnancy , had two adorable boys . I was not expected to be induced but I was . It was OK as long as the baby would be OK .
I was indused with my first pregnancy . When my First boy , I was giving Pitosine ( to speed up the labor process) My water bag never broke neither did I dialeted . That was all after 9 Hrs of Labor . My Baby was in distress his heart beat was very low and I was rushed for an Emergency C-Section . My Baby came out in Five Minutes with no sight effects ,( he is 6 years old now in first grade) I delivered both of my Boys @ Mercy Hospital ( Great Hospital) I don't mean to scare you at all but is always good to be prepared , You are going to be just fine , You are going to have a Healthy Baby , I 've Heard Memorial Regional is a good , You are going to be just fine !!

My blood pressure had shot up in my 36th week so I was induced with my son, and after quite an ordeal with hospital staff at Memorial Regional, I gave birth by C-Section two days later, (after insisting upon it). At the end of the day, it didn't matter what I had been through, all that mattered was my little boy, and that he was OK. Hope it helps, and if you have any questions, you can e-mail me. Take Care and best of luck!

Hi CT:
I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling wery well.
Regarding the inducing business...Well my son was late and I was induced by sweeping (sorry for my spelling). The senior nurse (I was in London) sweept my vagina with some sort of a cream on Friday. I was fine and walked from the hospital to my place about 15 mins-20 mins walk. My contractions started late on Sunday night. Juan arrived on Monday afternoon.
I hope this help.
Take care and rest...

Hello CT.

I was induced with both my boys. 1st son low fluid (39w3d) 2nd son no fluid (40w4d) with my 2nd son the Dr said it was a fluke with my 1st son and the fluid would/was not an issue. Both inductions were not scheduled. I had both boys @ Memorial West.

Both of my inductions were bad experiences for me. The induction started on a tuesday with my 1st son (around noon) and he was born 2 days later @ 3:30pm.

My 2nd son the induction it's self was not bad it was the threat of a c-section that stressed me out. My dr. was upset that I refused to go to Memorial Regional and stayed @ Memorial West. He wanted me to go to Memorial Regional since he had 3 other mothers over there who were being induced.

I am glad I did not go. All those mothers ended up with a c-section. I saw them @ the 6 week ck up.

Who is your dr?

Don't think about it too much. I was induced with my 3rd son because they thought he was going to be a 9 1/2 to a 10 lb baby, turned out he was only 7lbs 13 ozs. I was induced at Memorial Regional and delivered my second son there as well as my third son. There is nothing to an induction. You go in, they get you hooked up to the monitors and get the medication going to get you into labor.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I am 32 as well and nine months ago I had PIH too, and also had to be induced. I also delivered at Memorial Regional. They started with Pitocin and Cervadil. I agreed to continue to receive both medications, but on the THIRD day I was spent and not dialated and not having regular contractions. They had to perform a c-section. I was disappointed but was also worried about the baby 's health and my own as well! It was scary, but the nurses were awesome! Memorial does NOT have the newest or prettiest or most comfortable maternity floor, but the staff made up for it!
All I can say is I've heard of people being induced and going right into labor, and then I've heard stories like mine. Everyone is different and every experience is different. Congrats and Good Luck!!!

I was induced and would not have had it any other way. I got to the hospital at 5:30 am and patossin was started. I delivered at 5:53 pm. Everyone reacts dfferently to drugs and sometimes babies just do not want to come out, but I had a great induction experience. Best of luck!

I was induced at 40 weeks because my water broke. I was not dilated at all so my ob manually dilated me, had never heard of that and DON'T recommend it...ouch!! However, after that, I started with pitocin then an epidural. Things went slowly for a while, but once I started pushing it was only about an hour. I had an 8lb 3oz beatuiful baby boy!!!! Best of luck to you and remember what someone else wrote to you...calm you = calm baby....so true even once you come home and get into daily life. Take care, L. B
