Lately my son has been wetting through his diaper and sometimes 2 layers of clothes at night. We can't figure out why, haven't changed diapers, he's 19 mo, so it's not that we're putting the diapers on wrong. Maybe we're letting him drink too much at night? But is it fair to limit how much he drinks if he's thirsty? I tried switching to pampers at nighttime since they're more expensive, thought they'd be better. No luck there. I've read about "waterproof" pants, and saw someone using a diaper cover for cloth diapers. Maybe one of those would work. But they don't sell them at walmart, I guess I'd have to go to the city or order online. But I don't know what to look for. Anyone think that would work and know what to get? Any other suggestions?
Well I found training pants today. I'm going to put one on over his diaper see if that works. I found the huggies overnight, but they only had size 5 at the store, that's much too big for him. If the training pants don't work, I'm going to order overnights in a smaller size from diapers.com. Wish me luck, and thanks for all your suggestions.
My son, now 4 and uses the potty, did the same thing. The only thing I could think of that was the problem was that he would potty and the roll over on his belly and it would all "squeeze" out. It was very frustrating and I have no good advice really. I had one mom tell me she used to stuff cloth diapers down in the front of her sons diaper at night because she had the same problem. Might give that a try. Good luck!
Does he use a sippy cup? Try putting water in it after 5:00 instead of juice, milk, etc....
First off Thank you husband for us for his servie. 2nd I would go up a size in diapers or even change brands. I used Huggies and I tried using the walmart brand and both my kids would pee right though them. I guess they have some major bladders.
We started using special overnight diapers around that age for the same reason. They did a lot better. I can't remember who makes them, I think it was huggies, but they were called over-nights or had a particular night-time marketing. Hope that helps!! Good Luck!!
We use cloth, have you heard of fuzzi bunz? Not sure if you have or haven't, but there are tons of different types of cloth diapers. These kind, the Fuzzi Bunz are pocket diapers, one layer (the inside) is made to draw moisture away from the baby and into the "pocket" and the shell is waterproof. The "pocket" is stuffed with inserts made of terry cloth, microfleece, or just plain old prefolds. We usually stuff the pocket diaper with three or four items, and my daughter (7mo) sleeps for a good ten hours or more and wakes up completely dry; the inserts are soaked, but the liner keeps the wetness away from her and everything is contained, no wet clothes or blankets!!!
I'd say it's worth a try. They are feasible and convenient!
I never had any leakage problems with two kids who wore the White Cloud brand at Wal-mart. You could also try putting those Gerber training pants (at Wal-mart in the baby underwear section) that are cloth on the inside and plastic on the outside over his diaper at night, and then when he was older you would already have some training pants.
They have diapers that are called Overnights (I dont know if they are Pampers or Huggies) but they are really thick and they work really well. I had the same problem with my daughter. Also, I limit the amount of drinks my kids have about 1 hour before bedtime. That REALLY helps. If he gets enough during the day then at his age he should be able to go the whole night without a drink. Anyway- hope that helps. Those diapers are Wonderful for nighttime!!! If Wal Mart doesnt have them then get them at 1800diapers.com- cheaper anyway.

make sure he's in the right size. it may be time to move up a size.
I don't think its unreasonable to limit your son's fluid intake in the evening, especially if you can cram it in during the day! my doctor recommended limiting juices after 6pm. Try it. It may be less expensive than buying extra diapers!
One of my sons has this happen to him pretty frequently. I found moving them up a size in the diaper and try not to give him more then a little to drink 1 1/2 to 2 hours before bedtime plus make sure he goes to bed with a bone dry diaper. I hope this will help you.
Try switching to Huggies Supreme and depending on what size he is in now, he may have to go up a size, if the diaper is to big or to small it tends to leak. Just go by how much he weighs and decide the size from there.

Have you tried the overnight diapers? Huggies makes an overnight that my son rarely wets through and we used to have similar issues with him.
My daughter is going to be one next month and was wetting through her diaper at least twice a night. We switched her to Huggies overnight diapers and haven't had a problem since.
