My son is 16 months old and I have yet to fine the right nighttime diaper. Currently he is wearing a Huggies Overnight Diaper and a Pull up. When he wakes up in the morning he has wet right through to his PJ's. Any advise would really help.
Last night I bought a bigger size in Pampers, used plastic underwear and decreased his fluid intake at night. It worked last night. Keep your fingers crossed it worked! Thank you so much for all your responses. I really appreciate it!!

I am a pampers only kind of gal, but the only time I have experienced the wetting through diapers I just bought the next size up diapers and it solved the problem.

When my children had this problem, I would cut out the absorbant section of a smaller sized diaper, and put it inside the normal diaper at night. It was like having 2 diapers on at once. This always worked. You just have to be careful cutting the diaper - if you cut too much, you'll expose the absorbant contents and it will leak out. You mainly just want to get rid of the bulky sides. Good luck!

Buy larger diapers. It is more expensive, but use them at night or on long car rides. I have 4 children. It works.
Good luck.

I wonder if hes not only wetting through but wetting out the sides..I honestly would try cloth diaper ..I found in my recent cloth diaper shopping and using experience with my 16 month old, that she was wetting thru the sides b/c the dipe was too big. I got some smaller pocket diapers with microterry liner in it and ALL DRY! swear :) I LOVE the JamTots berryplush covers and a Thirsties microterry liner , but for day I use a Large liner and Bummis Whisper wrap. (sz med for 22lbs) Dry aven though she wets a lot. They hold every bit and more than a huggies- even though my husband thinks I am wasting my time..I love it.
I don't worry @ poop b/c I make sure there's a fleece liner or fleece inside the pocket diaper, drop what you can, flush, and wash the rest..easy!
You may try www.diaperware.com and www.kidsinthegarden.com for ideas or google it up. You'll be surprised.
Thirsties has an economical line, and is great too.
Good Luck and don't be afraid to give ita try. A friend I have with the same exact problem tried it and is hooked! :)

I have two children, one out of diapers but one still in. I never had luck with Huggies. Pampers has always worked for both my son and daughter. I also figured out that making sure I am using the correct size diaper matters as well. I tried to save money and bought diapers the next size up ( my daughter was sitting on the line of weight for the next size up) and she started soaking through the diapers at night. After two nights, I put the smaller size on her and dry! Good luck!!

I had the same problem with my son. Try Pampers and the next size up from what you usually buy. They worked for me.

Hi,
We had this problem also - I found Huggies to be one of the least absorbent brands.
I used Pampers - they worked better than anything else I found but still didn't completely solve the problem. I ended up buying plastic underwear and putting them OVER the diaper. It really helped - they would be wet in the morning, but at least stop the wetness from getting on her pj's and bed.
Good luck

Have you tried cloth diapers? They are really the best thing that I have found. I've actually fallen in love with them and use them all the time. They aren't the same diapers our mothers used. They look just like regular diapers and you can even add more padding for the night and other longer needs. My daughter loves her and can choose which colors she likes best and has helped in teaching her colors too. The enviornmental benefit and the savings make them even better. They are pricey up front but the savings in the long run are incredible.

We had the same problem, none of the diapers worked, but I FOUND THE SOLUTION!! WE use one diaper with a pair of those old plastic pants on top. They're training pants I guess, in the baby isle of either Walmart or Target, plastic on the outside and cotton/absorbing liner on the inside. The diaper AND the pants are wet in the morning, but not the pj's or sheets.

My guy would sleep right through the night and then some so I bought those good old fashioned plastic/or vynal underpants to put over his diaper. The diaper and the unerwear were soaked, but his jammies and sheets were not. Not the greatest idea, but on the cold nites he didn't wake up frozen and soaked. I know a friend of mine does 2 nite time diapers and she picked up some of the undrpants and she's pretty happy. They always have them in the dollar stores, but I am sure you can find them in regular baby r' us.

Yes, I have a great solution for you! Put on nighttime diapers like you've been doing and then plastic pants over it. On a bad night, he may still wet a little out the top or legs, but it will be very minor by comparison. This really did the trick for our now 2 year old. He's been wearing them since he was just over a year old.

The only diaper we found that helps is Pampers Baby-Dry (teal box). My daughter is 9 mos. so I'm not sure they make them in your son's size, but in the morning the thing weighs like 5 lbs. on her! If she has more than one bottle after bedtime she sometimes leaks through, but in general they've been a lifesaver. =)

I had the same problem with my daughter and now with my 20 mth old son. He is in a size 6 diaper, so moving up in size is tough. What has worked with both of my kids is a diaper doubler, diaper, then a pull up. You can order them online at http://www.healthpursuit.com/diaper_doublers.html (just recv'd an order I placed with them).
It is essentially just a maxi pad.
Hope this helps!

Hi J.,
I had a similar problem when my daughter was about the same age. I emailed Huggies with my complaint (I got some coupons for free diapers, so I would recommend that you try it, too); but what they told me was to go up in size. Even if the weight of the next diaper seems too big for your son, it is much more absorbant. I found that this worked for my daughter.
Good Luck! I hope that this helps. :)

OK, I have done the diaper thing with two boys and sometimes when you put them in the nightime daiper you've got to "aim them down". It soaks the diaper from the middle up instead of from the top down. My husband clued me in on that one!

Oh boy did I have this problem with my son! What I learned is no diaper is perfect all the time. At different ages and stages we had better results with different things. With him, I never had much luck with huggies but they work great for my daughter. I had the best luck with store brand diapers until he was older and leaking through at which point pampers worked best.
For the night time thing, I did the one size up pampers and aiming down. Definitely made a difference. When it got to the point that even that wasn't working, I bought cloth diaper "doublers" that I put inside his bigger disposable diapers and that worked really well. They added an extra level of absorbancy. Another thing I did at one point was got some of the plastic training pants and put those over the outside of the diaper. Also worked great. When he got a little older and too big for that (we reached a stage when he was three and only pull-ups fit him, he had outgrown all lie down diapers, and pull-ups have very little absorbancy) we started using "Goodnights" which are the huggies underpants meant for older children. Those were great and are meant for kids up to 60 pounds (I think they might have a bigger size too, that was just the one we used). They are expensive, but it was worth it to keep him dry!
Good luck!

We used to chagne our son's diaper before we went to bed. He had been alseep for 3 hours and we would pick him up and change him. He very rarely woke during this late night changings. If he did, he would go right back to sleep following a quick cuddle. Also, can you start cutting back the amount of fluid you give him in the evening? Maybe just a little less will help.
Good luck.

Luvs are unbeatable! Try them and make sure Winky is pointed down when you close the diaper! Pull ups are useless at night I have an 11 year old girl that still wets at night. We use the "Good-Nights" brand overnight pull up type things. They are heavy duty! I think "pull-ups" don't hold that much because they are meant for training. The Good-Nights are usually next to the pull-ups and they make them for boys and girls.
We get them at wal-mart, Good Luck! S.

Have you tried putting the plastic underwear liners over the diaper.
Also is he a light sleeper, could you possibly change him before you go to bed.
We have had this problem for a couple of years, so I feel your frustration, these are some of the things we have tried and have worked.

Hi J..
UGH!! I can remember those days with my son!!! We used a Cruisers in the next size up with a diaper doubler. It is basically a maxi pad, and I found them at Babies R Us and Stop N Shop. They are cheap-about 4 bucks for a pack. When he got older we used the doubler with an overnight pullup. Good Luck!

my son did this for a while. The only solution I ever came up with was that right before I went to bed, I would go in his room and change his diaper again while he was sleeping. he never woke up, and it saved me a lot of hassle with cahnging those damn cribsheets!

I had this same problem and 100% believe my next statement. No matter what size he is, go up one size for nights. If he wears size 4, buy size 5. Dont waste your current diapers, use them during the day. Use the bigger size at night. Leaks be gone!

My son is 15 months old and we had the same issue. We prefer Pampers as the Huggies didn't work for us from day one. We recently bought a package of Pampers in the next size up, so my son uses size 4 during the day and we put him in size 5 at night. It worked like a charm! Good luck.

We have been there and sometimes still go through that at 2years old. Huggies overnights are great, but even better is to try to narrow the amount he drinks as it gets closer to bed. After changing the sheets every day for a while we started paying more attention to how much he drank, etc.,he was drinking alot within a couple of hours before bedtime.

Not at all unusual, especially with a boy. I had the same problem with my son, way back. Used cloth diapers from a service; the diapers were very soft and absorbent, but he'd soak through EVERY night. I doubled up, even tripled up, but he'd still wake in the morning soaked to the skin.
No solutions, except time. Because my son was such a sound sleeper, I changed his diapers around midnight and that cut down on the soak throughs.

Hi J. - Several years ago, when I needed them, Market Basket was the only store that carried diaper liners. I can't remember if it was the one at Exit 7 in Nashua, or the one way down by Continental Boulevard. But I do remember making the special trip for them - I'm thinking exit 7.
They look like old Modess pads! But they work like a charm....

The only diapers that I found that don't leak are Pamper's Swaddlers. I have not had success with any of the other brands including regular Pampers. Also, you may want to go up in size with your child's diaper. Sometimes if the diapers do not have enough space - the diaper will leak. Good Luck!

I found that Luvs was the best for this when my little boy was doing the same thing, he wet through everything!! Luvs definetly stood apart from the rest and there was little to no leaking. You might also put him in the vinyl pants over the diaper for night time only, will cut down on changing the crib/bed and pjs so often during the night! Good luck!
