I have been studing herbal medicine for almost 20 years and use it more often than traditional medicine. I am a Reiki Practioner, I am always amazed at how well it works.
I use Feng Shui in my home also works.
I am so thankful for alternative medicine! After taking my DD to every doctor recommended to me for her reoccuring UTI's I finally have found an answer from a Holistic Chiropractor. After following the diet and supplement regimine given to us my daughter's white blood count in her urine is finally normal! It wasn't even this normal after rounds of antibiotics! Thank God for alternative medicine of we would be fighting this for the rest of her life. What are your good experience with Alternative Medicine?

What I like about complimentary and integrative medicine is that it recognizes the body's own innate ability to heal. Obviously, everyone needs a little help now and again but so much of traditional allopathic medicine only knows how to try to fix things...many time attempting to fix things that the body can deal with itself, given the body is properly fed and nourished.
I had an intestinal issue for almost a year. We did stool testing at the regular Dr.s office and found nothing. To be fair, I do know that parasites have life cycles and we might have just timed the test incorrectly, but after a time, I went to an Integrative Dr., did EDS (electrodermal screening, based on chinese energy systems) and found the parasite. I consumed crushed 'shells' for a time, which chased the parasite from the gut.
Do be careful, even with supplements, if they are not needed in the body, and regular blood testing needs to be done to determine that, as they can cause an IMBALANCE in the body and cause damage, however natural they are. Whole foods gives all the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants that the body needs, in a balance the body recognizes. There are some great whole food supplements on the market today. I can share why this is important and the research backed food in a capsule that my family uses. I'm glad for your family...be well. D.
We see a naturopath. She prescribes vitamins and supplements for my son, who is on the autism spectrum and has ADHD and Tourettes, based on neurofeedback. He also has done neuro-motion and neuro-integration therapy with her and it's surprising how well he responds to it all. It's been life changing for him. Our whole family uses homeopathic sprays and drops to help with everything from seasonal depression to insomnia. As much as I respect Western Medicine (and if I broke my leg or had a heart attack, the first thing I would do would be to see a medical doctor), for daily aches and pains, headaches, upset tummies, etc, I prefer to first try a holistic approach.
I can't even begin to express my thankfulness for breaking away from the allopathic medical community. I fully and wholeheartedly embrace the alternative medical community. I got seriously ill three years ago; my allopathic doctor of 10 years kicked me out of the clinic because 1) I asked questions and 2) he didn't have the answers. Told me to go find someone who could help me. So I did.
I was on 12 pharma drugs; I'm now on one and working my way off it. My body was totally depleted in all of the major amino acids because of my being on pharma drugs (pharma drugs deplete the body of so many things, like vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, etc.--not to mention the side effects many of them have). I had severe malabsorption--again, from the pharma drugs and also because I had severe gluten and soy intolerances and an allergy to casein protein, causing me to have a Leaky Gut. Heavy metal toxicity, moderate adrenal fatigue, a viral infection that laid dormant in my system...I could go on and on with all of my issues.
Alternative medicine fixed them all!
My daughter has Sensory Processing Disorder. By eating organic food and drinking reverse-osmosis water, as well as taking supplements, the difference in her has been like night and day! And with no soy or gluten or cow dairy in the house, she and my husband are also reaping the benefits of a better lifestyle.
Having dove headfirst into alternative medicine, it has opened up for me a spiritual path, which I am now pursuing. Once your mind and body are cleared of all the toxins and poisons from the environment as well as the manufactured food the supermarkets sell (chemicals, preservatives, excitotoxins, artificial flavors and colors...I could go on and on and on), it's amazing how much clearer one sees the world.
My oldest son has been seeing a naturopath who is a chiro and uses muscle response testing. MRT helped us to find supplements that helped him with allergies, ADHD, sleep and mood. He hasn't been on anything for a while and is still doing well. I look back at pictures of him from a few years ago and it's remarkable how different he looks now - he used to have "allergy shiners" year-round, was always pale, had terrible dandruff, cracked and peeling cuticles, and wild mood swings. Now he just looks so much healthier. The big difference for him was a supplement that helped with adrenal support - without that, the other things that he was already taking (like fish oil) just weren't working. Once we had the right combination of things, it was like the healing power of his own body was finally unlocked.
We also started a course of BIT (Brain Integration Technique, sort of like Crossinology) last summer. We ran out of time and $ about halfway through but will resume it soon to complete the process. He had his IEP testing last month and a lot of his areas of learning disability are "cured" compared with where he was 3 years ago and for the first time in his life, he is making honor roll. I can't say for sure whether or not one is related to the other but I like the results and am looking forward to seeing if anything else changes when the process is complete!
LOL my husband is a Chiropractor and uses Primal Reflex Release. Sometimes when he works on people they give him crazy looks but it nearly always works! I call it voo doo. He is also an acupuncturist and had a few women come to him who were having trouble conceiving. All but one was successful, and that one lady wasn't coming in like she was supposed to. Lots of good stories, but he has a hard time adjusting my neck because I can't relax. He frequently tells me I am the worst patient ever! Another chiro told me not to feel bad his wife does the same thing to him.
My son is autistic and has been taking homeopathic remedies to help. While we are not there yet, we have all seen quite a change in him. It's awesome! This is a long process, but we're excited to see how the remedies are giving us, as a family, hope.
Alternative medicine is always our first choice. My DD several years ago had 6 UTI's in a row. Finally I decided to take the advice of my chiropractor (and friend) and got her adjusted. She has never had another infection since. Every once in awhile she gets an adjustment.
It worked so well for me that at age 40 I am going back to school for a degree in Oriental Medicine. The schools I want to attend require a BS, not a ba so that I am getting a BSN first. My goal is a hybrid practice. I want to reach people where they are the sickest.
I am fully supportive of it but think that it is not something that you can dive into thinking that you can take this pill and you will be automatically fixed. It's about whole body wellness and balancing all of your body's systems.
I don't really have any personal stories to share but I do have a friend that I have known for several years now. When she decided to take a trip India, she had to get a vaccine. Not long after that, she came down with rheumatoid arthritis and eczema. Neither condition runs in her family. Instead of taking a drug to relieve her of her symptoms, she decided to treat it by way of alternative medicine. It has taken a couple of years and she had to pursue treatment with a number of different approaches but she is almost fully recovered right now.
So glad to hear that your daughter's treatment was effective and that she is feeling better. That is always good news to share.
I say go for it. They are so much better than meds. OPC3 is an amazing anti oxidant. They help fight so many things. The OPC3 will fight free radicals which is the first thing your immune system does. With the OPC3 fighting the free radicals, it frees your immune system up to fight sickness and disease. That's why it's good for so many different things.
I think everyone should be on it. I know it's helped me a ton. Even with my energy.
Hope that helps.
I don't have a bad experience to speak of! Chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopathy, massage..it's all helped us with colds, ear infections, pregnancy issues, headaches, tendinitis, incontinence, anxiety, scar tissue, you name it! So happy you've found something that worked and didn't interfere with the body's natural healing processes!
