What Brand of Diaper Do You Recommend?

My youngest child is almost a year old and recently she has been leaking through her diaper. I have 3 other children and have always used either Wal-Mart or Babies 'R Us brand diapers and they have done the job. And, even with this child, Wal-Mart's brand has been fine. I started using Luvs the last few weeks since they are supposed to have the leak proof guarantee, but this afternoon after a few ounces of water I found her in wet shorts. Does anyone have a recommendation of a brand that really is leak proof?

What can I do next?

Hi there, I have 2 children my daughter (6) was a huggies supreme baby i never had a problem with them but they are expensive. When I had my son I always used the Target brand diapers until this day. You can get the box of 60 for $13.00. They work just as good as Huggies. I tried Luv's on my daughter one time and she got the worst diaper rash EVER.
Good Luck

We like the off brand diapers also it saves a lot of money. The only ones that my son ever wet through were the Luvs. He is 20 months and we've used Sam's club diapers since he was about 14 months b/c we got a membership and they always have worked good. Before that we used HEB and they worked well too, but the Sam's club brand is cheaper. Big box of 200 diapers for I think like $36 ... something like that. Good Luck.

Hello! I tried all the brands and the best one is the Pampers Premium, they may be a little more expensive but I never had any problems with them leaking. I found the Luvs ran a little small and it never failed, they would leak.

I have tried EVERY kind of diapers since my son was born. We started with Pampers Swaddlers because he was so skinny and everything else leaked. We then got to try all the differnt ones that people gave us. May types of Huggies, Loves, Parent's Choice, HEB, Pampers regular....anyway, he's now 7 months and still kinda thin but just grew out of the 2's with the wetness load but they still fit his body. So after long consideration I decided to choose the Pamapers cruisers size 3 (the Pampers have a great flex side that stretches for tightening or for stretching on big ones). My little one just started crawling and these diapers are life savers! I think any other 3's would have been saggy on crotch like the HEB 3's are. Anyway, all that drama to say PAMPERS CRUISERS!!!!!

Every kid's bottom is different. My first could only use the Target brand and not leak. My second has been able to use huggies, pampers, (both of which my first leaked with), and the Target brands. All I can say is trial and error. Both, however, would start leaking and need to go up to the next size a little earlier than the "suggested" weights. Like, if one was for 18-24 lbs, they would actually start using that size when they were 16 1/2 pounds. They just produced more "volume" then the smaller diapers could handle.

I use all in one cloth diapers that i made, and they NEVER leak. My son had poop blowouts with disposables as well, and I've found that cloth works to contain a lot more. I honestly think cloth diapers do a better job of not leaking, provided you change diapers a little more often, especially after they have had a lot to drink.

S.-- my sister had kids before I did, and she told me not to waste my money on anything but Huggies or Pampers. She said all the generic and cheaper brands leak, and it's not worth it to deal with wet sheets every morning. We got some Luvs as part of a baby gift, and they leaked. In my experience, diapers are one of those baby products where you get what you pay for. But maybe it depends on the kid and how much they pee. My boys pee the day (and night) away! :)

I have changed diaper brands with every child (I have 4) because what worked for one didn't work for the other. I think it is because they are all shaped differently. However, I have never had a problem using the Costco brand diapers. If you have a friend with a membership or if you do, give them a try. And if you don't like them, you can always return them. When I don't use them, I have used LUVs and never had a problem.

Her body shape maybe changing and you may have to change brands to find the right one for this period of time. Have you tried going up in size? When my kids would go through this I would use Huggies or White Cloud night time diapers. Either one worked fine the night time diapers are more absorbent.

My son had the same problem but now never leaks with Pampers Baby Dry. A little more expensive, I recommend going to http://www.pampers.com and registering. They send you coupons and you can enter in the codes that come on all of their products to redeem for toys and gift cards. Just be sure to check it frequently. If it still feels crinkly with a little touch, they are dry but if if feels soft and gel like, they are wet.

My sister in law loves the HEB brand ones that have little bones on them. When the bones disappear, they are wet. I guess they're playing on the "bone dry" term?

On a side note, if urine or really any fluids or stains that can come out of a baby get on clothes, you can use Dreft to erase it. I have removed lord knows how many stains this way. I don't use the detergent but just the spray on stuff. You can even wait until you're doing laundry and spray it on then (let it sit for 3-5 minutes) and the stains still come out. Good luck!

From my experience with two children, one boy and one girl, and also from my experience in daycare...every child is different. What works for one kid doesn't work for another, and it can even change in time.

With my son, we used Huggies his first several months or so. After that we used Luvs. We tried around a dozen brands with him, and that is what did not leak for him. (It was nice because the Luvs were inexpensive.)

With my daughter, it was a whole different story. She has a heart condition and takes a diuretic to draw fluids away from her heart and lungs. So she produces a LOT of pee and poop. NOTHING was containing it all! We had to switch to Pampers Cruisers and go one size higher than her weight suggests. Finally she is dry all day and night!

Good luck finding the "right" brand for your littlest one! Happy Independence Day!

this happened with my 2nd daughter too! my first baby always wore store brand or luvs diapers and they worked fine. my 2nd daughter, ever since around 9 mo. old, i've had to use pampers on her. #1 because she has really sensitive skin and pampers are the only ones that don't give her a horrible rash. #2 ANY other diaper brand leaks, especially overnight. so i just have to suck it up and pay the extra money for pampers. it's sooo worth it though b/c i was having to change her sheets EVERY morning. with pampers, the diaper can be so full it's falling off and it still doesn't leak!

I have used different brands, wal-mart brand, safe-way brand and they work good. You may need to check the diaper more often because the baby may be wetting the same diaper several times before you change them. You should be going through 10-15 diapers per day. The reason I know this is because I used to use cloth diapers and we washed about 100 to 150 per week for one child. It is much easier to tell how often a baby is wetting with clother diapers. When we keep our grandchildren age 2 mo 2 yr.old we always change their disposable diapers often, if it feels gel like we change it right then.
I had a doctor friend of my tell me that they are seeing more yeast infections with infants and they think it is because of disposable diapers and not being changed as often.

Pampers cruisers are GREAT!! i tried the Luvs (gift) and they leaked horribly. I called the co and they said that they are less absorbent than Pampers and sent me a replacement coupon for Pampers. I have used Huggies before too. Depending on the shape of your child, you can see which one fits best. They are definitely more absorbent than the brands you mentioned.

Have you tried changing sizes? I know my daughter is in a size four and according to the weight range on the package she shouldn't be in the them. But due to the fact that she LOVES her fluids, she has to be in the next size. I have always been a big fan of Luvs but ones that I am always happy with that are much cheaper is the White Cloud from Wal-Mart or the Target brand. I have one boy and one girl and they have worked fine for either of them but I would also try going up in size.
