My son has grown to tall for his infant seat, so I have to purchase the next stage of car seat. He is already 29" and 18 lbs, so if anyone has had a car seat they just love, please tell me the make and model. Also if you had any problems with one, I would like to hear your warnings too!
**update** which Britax?? There are quite a few. I don't know which is better for my tall boy!

What can I do next?

Ahhh yes, the big boys... I would strongly recommend a Britax as well. My guy got too tall for his infant seat at about 4 months. I got another Graco that wasn't too expensive. The only thing is, it fell apart fairly quickly. I got a forward facing Britax a year or so later. Had I just gotten a Britax convertable when he was younger, I would have saved the money. They are so much better put together and have much better padding. They're perfect for the taller/heavier child. I like them because their weight limits are also a lot higher. Most Gracos, etc stop at about 35/40 pounds. My guy was about that weight at 2 and was in no way ready for a booster seat which would have been the next step if you just went by size. His Britax will be good until about 80 pounds. I think the convertibles hold them until about 50 or 60 pounds. The longer you can keep them in a 5 point harness, the safer they will be. I know they're more expensive, but worth it imo.

I know Britax is the overwhelming recommendation, but if you need something just as wonderful, and more affordable, I would highly recommend the Evenflo Triumph DLX. The ratings are great, it goes to 50 lbs and 50 inches, its very cozy, easy easy to clean, simple to install...I could go on and on. Just remember, the most important thing for any carseat is for it to fit your child and your vehicle properly, no matter what brand.

If you go back and check the archives, you'll see that the overwhelming majority of us recommend Britax seats. I have the Britax Boulevard for my son, and plan on getting another for my daughter as soon as she needs it.

Hi K.,

I'm also in the process of looking for a new car seat for my little man.
Consumer Reports says that the Britax Roundabout and Marathon are the safest, followed by the Radian car seat made by Sunshine Kids and the Graco ComfortSport. Some reviews online said that the Graco one was uncomfortable for their child...it's also the cheapest by far.

Good luck!

I have one that is for sale and I can guarantee you it has never been in an accident. My daughter needed to upgrade to a larger one for her 5 year old. It is blue and navy and in S. Arlington.
I don't know if we can put our phone number here, so maybe you can respond to me.
