hey A. my kids alway napped in the big bed or onn the floor on a blanket or weher ever they fell a sleep
My son has almost outgrown his pak n play, and I'm at a loss of what to use next. He still sleeps in a crib (he's 19 months old) so a regular bed is out of the question. I baby-sit during the week and need a place for him to nap. We also travel, so being portable is a must. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the responses! I went to onestepahead.com and found an inflatable toddler bed that has slightly raised sides.

He's old enough to nap in a real bed. You may have to be more proactive getting him to lay down and say laying down, but there is no reason to assume that he can't sleep in a real bed. Heck my 2nd born never slept in a crib.
Check out the One Step website-- they sell inflatable toddler travel beds.
I also babysit. One of the little girls I watch is 2 1/2 and still fits in a pack and play. They are supposed to last longer than 19 months. I am not sure of the size of your son but I think unless his head is at one end and his feet are at the other then he is fine. My girls slept in a pack n play till I got them out of the crib which was about 2 1/2 years old. I hope that this helps you.

Why can't he be in a bed?? My kids were at that age--most have to because of new babies arriving.
When we traveled I bought my kids a cute sleeping bag. And, if you don't want them on the hard floor with the bag you can put an inflatable raft under--works great!!
I'm not sure about what you should do when traveling, but my children sleep on cots when napping during the week (I also babysit a few kids). Discountschoolsupply.com is a good website to visit, maybe it could give you more sleeping ideas.
My daughter started sleeping in a toddler bed with side rails at 18 months. She never had a problem with it and transitioned well from the crib to a bed at that age. As long as it is low enough to the ground (sometimes they do roll out of bed, she is almost 3 now and still falls out of bed sometimes) and has side rails it is pretty much like a crib. I agree with the other moms though that he should still fit in the pak n play. They are all about the same size of a crib unless you have like a king size crib or something :) Good luck!
My son is 26 months and still naps in a pack n play at my mom's house and at my sisters house. Is your pack n play one of the smaller ones? Maybe look for a larger pack n play, or borrow one from someone to get you by for a few months. Did he outgrow the weight limit or is he too tall for it?
Another option is to let him nap on a blanket on the floor (Disney/Target/Walmart all have these roll up nap rolls with attached pillows, good for nap time or for sleepovers). A cot is another option, a step between the floor and going to a regular bed.
Good luck!
I agree with you. I don't think he should be in a big bed. But I am stumped as to what is next.
You can look around for an older style packnplay they are larger. My 7 month old sleeps in one until my 37 month old is done with the crib. It is 29 inches by 41 inches. It still wouldn't last too long but it is bigger than the other pack n play's.
