What Do These Symptoms Sound Like?

All--First, let me say that my daughter's doctor's office is on lunch break right now, so thats the reason for the question.

Last night, I noticed that my 17 mth old daughter had little bumps all on her face, neck and shoulders. I would have wrote it off as a heat rash, but her left eye was watery as well. This morning, the bumps were less prominent but still there and when I just called the daycare, both of her eyes now are watery. Her nose is also running now. Anyone have experience with these symptoms? Could it be seasonal allergies?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone who responded. Well, the doctor's office never returned the call I left them on Friday; I called a Nurseline thats available through our insurance and they couldn't put a finger on anything. But because there was no redness, itching or fever they didn't see it as an emergency. I gave her some Claritin and that helped with the watery eyes and nose but not the bumps. I asked the daycare provider and was informed that that day my daughter had Sun Chips for the very first time. So I got her some Benadryl and the spots are just about gone 24 hours later. And to be honest, when I first saw her, I immediately thought Benadryl but didn't follow thru. Gotta learn to trust my "Mother's Instinct."

In addition, I had already scheduled a doctor's appointment for my daughter's 18 month check up so I was going to have them check her out at that time. But once they didn't return my call I left, I decided it was time for me to seek another doctor. I had issues with them before but that was the last straw. I was affirmed that I made the right decision when they called me YESTERDAY and asked me if I spoke with anyone yet. I told them my phone call was never returned and she said to me (and I quote) "Oh no. YOU are supposed to call us back." I cancelled my appointment with them and thats the end of that.

Hi T., hopefully you've taken her to the doctor by now but ear infections & strep throat also cause the same rash as well as teething. Usually when they cut their molars. Hope all is well. Take care.

They sound like sypmtoms of allergies. Runny nose watery eyes, body rashes, etc are all common of seasonal allergies. As long as she doesn't run a fever or have any swelling of any kind, you should be able to treat it with an over the counter baby allergy medicine.

Sounds like allergies. My BFF's daughter started having those exact symptoms around 14 months! She takes Zyrtec (OTC now) once a day and it seems to have everything cleared up.

It'll be good to double check with the doc though.

It sure sounds like allergies to me. One sign of allergies is for the skin to have red bumps. Has your daughter eaten anything new in the last few days that she hadn't eaten before or in a larger portion?

You should get her checked out at the Doctors office. There are many childhood diseases that start out with these simptons.
Good luck

Once before my granddaughter came down with bumps with watery eyes, I thought she had the 3 day measles, that was how the bumps looked. It turned out she had a staff infection
and her body broke out.
Does your daughter have any fever?

it would be best to see a doctor to rule out anything and with her being young you do not want to give her meds without the dr ok anyways.

hope she gets feeling better.
