So What Happened?

Figured i'd share what we eat, too. If we don't have leftovers to eat, my daughter usually eats an apple, a sandwich, or some cottage cheese and chicken nuggets, or various fruits, broccoli, whatever i have on hand. I dont know what i eat other than leftovers lol

I try to eat a salad every day for lunch, but I always add something with protein. For example, chick peas, beans, hard boiled eggs, etc. This always fills me up without feeling like garbage. I make my own dressing so I am not eating any sugar (most dressings have sugar in it). So I use a little vinegar and oil and some real mayyonaise (miracle whip has sugar in it), and some spicy mustard. If I want it to be a little sweet, I add about 1/4 tsp honey and mix it all together. You can even make this and bring it to the park with you. Sorry I don't have a 3 year old anymore so I can't remember what I used to feed them, but I recently read that you want to mix carbs with protein so it stays with you longer. Good luck!

I teach high school. One day I told my principal that I couldn't meet with her during lunch because I had been meeting with students during lunch all week. She told me, "That's good!"

I'm not even allowed to eat lunch anymore. If I hear one more derogatory comment teachers in the news by politicians, I'm going to vomit.

We usually eat leftovers. I will often freeze individual portions of leftovers so I can just reheat them for lunch. Some of those meals will be meat loaf, meatballs and rice, stir fry, soups, enchiladas. I also do a lot of salad. I will roast a whole chicken on the weekend and then one night we will have roast chicken + sides and I will chop up the rest and keep a bag of cubed chicken breast to dump on salads during the week and freeze the rest to make soups.
My 4 year old does not eat much but she will usually have 2 servings of fruit or veggies like apple, orange, banana, cantaloupe, tomato slices, cucumber slices or a fruit smoothie and then maybe 1/2 a sandwich, a roll, a piece of toast or a granola bar.

I usually just eat a sandwich, sometimes leftovers. I don't mind PBJ or I'll make a turkey or ham sandwich. My kids could eat a PB bagel every day, and mostly they do! Plus, I add fruit or veg, yogurt, crackers sometimes, cheese, whatever is handy, to supplement.

If I'm feeling adventurous I will make mac and cheese or quesadillas. My kids like making their own pizzas so we do that sometimes with bagel thins or refrigerator biscuits. I also sometimes give them frozen pretzels (like a hot pretzel) for lunch.

Sometimes I will make myself a frozen meal or hot pocket or something but I don't tend to keep those things on hand. I've been eating a lot of ramen lately which I know isn't all that healthy but for some reason I've been craving it!

Everyday we have a grain, protein, and two vegies and/or fruits.

Ex:
Deli sandwich (ham, turkey, egg salad, tuna salad), veggie (cucumbers, green salad, carrots, broccoli, peas, etc), and fruit (applesauce, oranges,, pineapples, peaches, etc)

PB&J, yogurt, veggie, fruit

Pasta, chicken, veggie, fruit

Pasta and meat sauce, veggie

Rice, beans, veggie, fruit

Pancakes or french toast, sausage or eggs, two fruits

Bean and cheese quesadilla, veggie, fruit

Mac-n-cheese with ham or chicken, veggie, fruit

Cheese, crackers, summer sausage, veggie, fruit

Hot dog on a bun, veggie, fruit
Etc....

You see where I'm going....

I make a weekly menu so I know what we will have each day. We have something easy (sandwiches, no cook meal) at least 2x per week. I utilize leftover from previous dinners too. Planning it out is really the most important part for me.

Soups (chicken, lentil, vegetable) My kids like noddle soup and grilled cheese with crackers and cheese.
Salads (tomatoes and cucumbers w/oregano or lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers with salt, lemon, and olive oil.
Sandwiches. I mix in a small bowl lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado and tuna with a pinch of salt and olive oil, and then put this "salad" in a pocket pita bread (whole wheat); or a mushrooms and provolone cheese, etc. My kids like peanut butter and jelly, or cheese and tomato slice. They also like a slice of bread with a banana rolled inside and peanut butter and jelly.
Fruits all the time
Chicken and rice,
Steamed vegetables and turkey or beans (black or any other kind)
We make our own pizzas with french bread (cheese, tomatoes, olives, green and red pepper, etc.. or just cheese pizza for the kids and fruit) This option is only when we are too busy or there is no time.

I rarely eat what I make my kids. I love to eat leftovers when I can (then I dont have to cook or waist food), I also will often make myself a salad or eat a costco frozen individual meal.

As for the kids, Amy's organic bean and cheese frozen burritos
tostadas
PB and J
pasta
quesedilla
nachos
grilled cheese
pre-made or leftover soups

For sides for my kids its: cottage cheese, grapes, carrot sticks, berries, cucumbers, celery and cream cheese, beans or rice.

YAWN...I eat the same thing every day for lunch! :D A sandwich made with Light Tapioca Bread, mayo, Hormel's Natural Choice Ham, and either lettuce or tomato (sometimes both.) It's a tiny little sandwich, but I love it. On very rare occasions, we will all have chili hot dogs.

My children eat wildly different meals, because one has Celiac disease. My "normal" eater will have a sandwich (PB&J or ham and cheese with lettuce), chicken breast nuggets, bagel with cream cheese...and alongside she has a fruit, sometimes a yogurt, sometimes a cheese stick, and sometimes applesauce. Rarely, she will have a pot pie.

My CD child has tuna salad (just tuna and mayo), a peanut butter sandwich on tapioca bread, or GF fish sticks as the main course. She always has a fruit (usually an apple), usually has a lactose-free yogurt, and sometimes has black olives. Rarely, she will have tamales.

Some days, usually when we need to go to the grocery store, I will just make a fruit tray. I also try to give them peas two or three times a week, and we also rarely enjoy sausage, eggs, and toast as a treat. :)
