I'm cleaning house. Just curious, do you keep or toss all the high quality photo cards and photographs of family and friends you get for christmas?

Pop them in a photo album ... the kind where the plastic peels back not where you pop them into a slot.

Every year for the past 5 or 6 years I have created a small 7x7 album out of each card. Admittedly they have become less embellished over the years, but it is really cool to look back at them every year around the holidays!

I am a tosser - a recycler if possible. I keep them displayed until January, then in the recycle bin they go. We have too much stuff in our house of 5. =)

Yes. I tried to be all Martha Stewart about it and was placing them in photo albums or re-purposing them into handmade cards etc... then I realized, it was just getting to be obnoxious. I really never go back and look in those albums that still have cards in them, I see more photo updates on their personal blogs, FB and emails. I know people pay a lot of money and the cards are really nice, I know cause I do it every year, but I need to de-junk so out they go after the holidays are over.

For close friends and family, I usually cut off the christmas greeting and just leave the picture. I have a bulletin board I put them on to display and then replace with the new picture each year. It's in my laundry area, so they are just on display for us. Cutting off the greeting makes is smaller it also keeps me from feeling like I have Christmas decorations up all year round. If it's just an acquaintance, they get tossed after New Years.

I keep all the cards, pictures and newletters I get each Christmas in a decorated basket, whether I know them well or not. I write the year on the back and stick everything in the front, so the more updated cards are in the front. Its fun watching it fill up each year and it saves from having to display them all over the house. Each year I just store it in a plastic bag when Christmas is over, and then pull it out at the start of the season. Once in a while my family and I look through them and see if we can remember who everyone is or how big everyone has grown.

I put the photo cards in a photo album. If it's just a card then I get rid of it after New Year's Day. :)

We toss them once the season or birthday is over. We just can't keep that much 'stuff'. I have a friend who keeps all of these pics/cards in a file and I'm baffled as to why. We recently read a great (free) e-book about minimalism and it really it home. Speaking of home, we live in an old craftsman house - cute, quaint and cozy - that's code for small. And, we firmly do not believe in storage. Did you know more than half of our country's square footage is being used for storage? (my memory for the exact amount may be a bit skewed, but it was a lot, that I definitely remember-smile). But, I digress, and will step down from soap box. One of the good ideas in the minimalist book was if there are sentimental items that you really love and can't bear to get rid of, to take a picture of it and put it on your computer. In this case, just scan the picture/card and put it in a file on your computer and then you can toss all those cards. I'm not that sentimental, I appreciate them for the season and then toss them all - well recycle them all if I'm going to get back on that soapbox;)

I like to keep them in a box with the Christmas decorations. It's fun to look at them once a year.

I toss it. My husband would keep every damn thing we EVER got if I let him (I think he has hoarding tendencies!), so I make sure to look at the picture, comment on the picture, maybe hang it during the holidays...and then off to the trash they go.

I cut off the pictures and throw the rest out. Right on the back names and dates. I can't see saving the whole thing.

If the photos are of close friends or family then I keep them in a box, if they are just casual friends then I usually toss them. I also recyle all the paper cards unless they have a thoughtful note in them, which most do not.

i have boxes full of every card or invitation, hand written, note, i've ever gotten, along with concert tickets and little trinkets. I choose not to organize them. I like periodically going through a box and finding hidden treasures. That was one of the best things we did when my mom died. We dug out all her old photo boxes and dug through memories. It was very healing and fun, each of us pulling something out of the box we were looking in and yelling, hey remember this?

I only keep the previous year's cards/photo cards.
Then toss them when the current year's, is in season.
