What types of things do you/did you feed your 14/15 month olds for breakfast and lunch. I feel like I'm always doing the same few things and she's getting tired of them. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much. I always give her whatever we're eating for dinner, but she only has 2 teeth so I don't give her hard cereal yet. I give her pancakes and waffles a lot, but am trying to find some other "fast" things to make for her. I'm trying to be better about giving more fruit and vegging b/c I know they are so important not only for her, but for all for all of my kids. Thanks for all of the great suggestions!

cubes of baked sweet potato

avocado

soft-cooked green lima beans

giant white lima beans

small bites of chicken (dark meat is better for iron content)

scrambled eggs with very finely chopped spinach and cheese

whole wheat buttermilk pancakes (my recipe at the end)

chicken livers (cooked in a little bit of butter and cut to bite-size pieces)

whole grain pasta

Yogurt (Greek yogurt has at least twice the protein of regular yogurt and sticks to the spoon for better self-feeding)

Remember that it takes 10 or more introductions for a child to know if they "like" something or not. So repeatedly introduce foods over a period of weeks to build their palates.

Pancakes (sorry, I don't measure everything)

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

3 large or 2 jumbo eggs

cinnamon

nutmeg

vanilla

snack cup of applesauce (optional, adds a little sweetness)

buttermilk (or regular milk)--added to consistency after all other ingredients

These freeze well.

When my kids were that age they were no longer on any kind of baby food. They were tired of that stuff a few months before..lol.. I would give them pancakes, different types of cereal like cheerios, rice krispies, the flake cereal with the fruit in it. fruit by itself, yogurt, you can introduce eggs once they turn 1. For lunch i used those little kid dishes in teh baby isle.. They have chicken, noodles, green beans that type of stuff.. well balanced meal.. We also had mac and cheese or rice, grilled cheese sandwich broken up real small.. Not sure how many teeth your little one has.. mine only had about 4 at that age but handled all the above just fine :0) hope this helps!

I usually feed my baby whatever we are eating, to see if she likes it. If she only takes a few bites I will feed her, her "normal" food as a back up to fill her up. She really likes cherrios tossed in a bit of yogurt (just to coat them), mini taco salads, any kind of beans, and she absolutely loves meat (turkey, chicken, steak, ribs, pork chops, ground beef, she will even eat bits of pastrami thanks to her daddy...yuck!). I will also make her a sandwhich (I dont like mayo so I use plain/unflavored, yogurt as a sub, with a slice of turkey) then I will squish the sandwhich flat, so she can get a better bite.
Good Luck!

It's been a while since my daughter was that age but I remember making toast for her, and scrambled eggs, cereal with milk, fruits and yogurt. Sundays I still make bacon and eggs and biscuits, she loved that too when she was little. She never liked pan cakes or waffles. Now she does but back then she didn't. Big hit was ( and still is) a grilled cheese sandwich.
