D.K.
Heaven knows!!! I try to never look up there. My husband likes to dump his pockets up there and I try to believe it is all clean and neat. Ignorance is bliss!!
That's where I keep boxes of cereal. But I don't like the way it looks - so cluttered , so moved the boxes inside the cabinets. Now it looks plain and boring! Wondering what's on yours?

Nothing... i have 2 small cabinets....but i love it with nothing on it....i feel it looks clustered with stuff up there. I like counters cleaned off too.
Things that I don't want my 2 and 4 year old to have. It's the only place they truly can't climb to, yet anyways.
Two plastic pumpkins full of Halloween candy...and they stay there all year (kinda sad I know it)...but when the Halloween candy about runs out the Christmas candy gets put up there...Valentines, then Easter candy...
So our refrigerator decor is two plastic Halloween pumpkins...LOL.
Whatever my husband it too lazy to put away.
Nothing! And it is glorious!
My husband used to keep his tools on top of the fridge while he was working on our home. I guess that was a nice central location for him?
Now that our house is done, the tools are gone. So, two things to be thankful for - a construction-free home and a clutter-free top of the fridge!
Honestly, I think it looks so much cleaner and nicer with nothing up there. You will get used to it!
Anything that I do not want my 3 year old to have--Wii games, Ipad, Halloween candy. He has a hard time understanding the word, "No."
Nothing. I like it clean and organized.
I put everything in cabinets or the pantry.
Well the Bose Ipod dock, of course. I thought everyone put it there!
;)
Everything I confiscate from my kids throughout the day ;-) So, toys that are being used as weapons, markers, scissors, glue, Apple TV remote control, retractable tape measure, screwdrivers, etc...
I would prefer plain and boring, but if you must fill the void, perhaps a potted plant or decorative glass vase.
Dust. haha
I have cabinets over mine, so there's no room for anything.
A Decorative box with extra cookbooks in it and a chalkboard sign that I rarely use but is awakward to store.
A basket with an artificial plant arrangement in it. It blocks two small cabinets above the fridge, however. I wonder what's in there? I might have to check! :)
A couple of large, low modern baskets and wooden bowls I use for serving while entertaining. They look cool and are too big for the cabinets anyway so it's convenient.
The big decorative Halloween candy bowl (ha) and the 2 lunch boxes (husband and son), when not in use.
My daughters art supplies. It doesn't bother M. as its quite colorful. :-)
Two paper (signed by the actors) crowns from Medieval Times; a various assortment of confiscated weaponry (play guns, rubber band crossbows, swords, knives and nerf paraphernalia); the dog's retrieval duck and a signed Nolan Ryan ball (in a box) that we have not yet bought the plastic ball display case.
Bag of tortilla chips and a bag of veggie sticks. A package of goldfish crackers and a couple of toys the kids were fighting over.
Bread baskets and a lunch box :)
bucket of alfalfa cubes to soak for the mares' hot morning mash, box of matches in case the temperamental gas stove needs a jump start, and my husband's lunch box (okay, that's not there right now.)
and at the moment, a 2-foot witch because i haven't taken down the halloween decorations yet.

Halloween buckets with candy.
Nothing. I like things clean an organized. If I have to dust and pick something up to do that, there are too many things sitting out.
My husband is 6'6" and puts stuff EVERYWHERE....including the top of the fridge....so I'm constantly cleaning random things off of there.
Cabinets. I have a flush refrigerator surrounded by cabinets. In the above the fridge cabinet are the plates/dishes I only use for large parties. I have to climb up on a step stool to get up there so nothing I use too often goes there.
My knife block to help make them inaccessible to the kids.
we keep our cereal there too. Not enough room in our small pantry. Art supplies go in the cabinet in back but more often than not they don't quite get put all the way away and are on top. But no decor. Not like this...

At our last house, it was the phone book (we had more cabinet space there). Here, it's cereal and oatmeal. :)
It's where I keep the big stuff I don't use very often. The turkey roaster is up there, the home brew kit (which would get used more often if I could afford to keep ingredients stocked), couple of Playmate coolers.
Lunch boxes & an electric griddle. We use it a lot, so it's a nice spot for it.
Everything I don't know what do with.
A vase with fake flowers my kids gave M. a while ago, a box waiting to be shipped, George Forman grill, a pair of size 6 oshkosh overalls I bought and were to small (trying to find someone to give them to) and a pair of pants my dd bought that she is going to be taking back...so she says.
I have always had cabinets above my refrigerators.
Our main kitchen has a large open double shelf above it and I have colorful serving dishes displayed. In our other kitchen I have beautiful vases displayed in the shelf above the refrigerator.
I suggest to choose something to go with your kitchen decor.
the coffee maker (we use it twice a year when my dad comes to visit) and all of my extra cake pans. Plus the scissors so the kiddo can't get them.
A lunch box and a white dish pan that holds dirty dishes out of eyesight (instead of in the sink).
Right now I have our skillet, recipe book, and batteries.

We have some decorative items and then the coffee and halloween candy is up there out of little one's reach :)
Bread, tortillas, child art projects and a recipe book.
