I've really enjoyed the results I've seen from OrangeGlo on my dark stained, oak floors. The only place I have successfully found the product is Krogers.
I just moved in to a new house with all hard wood flooring. I am looking for suggestions as to how to clean the floors. I have heard about the possibility of using a steam mop. I'm wondering if anyone uses one of those, or if there is a better product to buy. Thanks!

We have a Floormate machine and we use the wood floor cleaner that comes with it. However, if you don't want that expense you can get Murphy's Oil Soap and mix it with water in a bucket. It is cheap and does a beautiful job. Happy cleaning!
I use the Shark vaccuum and steam mop and love them both. the vaccuum is recahrgeable and works ok. not good in the corners, but way better than a dirty broom, nno dust pans. I got the steam mop with the cord rather than rechargeable. love it! got it at Bed bath and beyond for about $80... use the coupon. they also have them at Costco. Good luck. P.
Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaning System. It comes with the mop, handle, and cleaner. Then you can use the inexpensive refill.
Bona is #1 in cleaning Hardwood Floors.
You can get it at Dillman & Upton in Rochester.
Hope that helps. Don't Use plain water or Endust or anything like that.
Personally I wouldn't use a steam mop or anything with water anywhere near a hard wood floor. Call me silly but that is just asking for trouble. Ever get a water stain on your wood table? Maybe that is just how I was raised, but I'ld rather just run the vacumb and then if it needs a buffing cloth. Now the new wood looking floors maybe.
I use Bruce wood cleaning products. A couple times a year I strip them and then put 4-5 layers of wax on. I vacumb the floors daily to keep them clean and if they are showing lots of wear I will put another coat of wax over the area.
Hi J.,
My home is all hard wood floors, with the exception of the bathrooms. My favorite way to clean them is with either Murphy's Oil Soap and hot water --or-- White Vinegar and hot water. Both work great. Using the Vinegar solution will cut dirt and grim....the oil soap adds the correct oils back into your wood.
I trust that one of these will work great for you. I love the beauty of the wood floor. ;-)

There are some GREAT products that are GREEN that work beautifully from Melaleuca.( It is a Wellness Store in IDAHO that allows you to shop right from a big warehouse.
I have shopped there for over 6 years now and the prices are under Walmart.
IT IS GREAT...to offset the low shipping fee they give you free products!
go to www.melaleuca.com to see what they are like as a whole. Call J. at ###-###-#### and I can share a quick information overview with you.
If you like what you see and you want to try it out...you have to be referred to shop there so I can refer you.
They only advertise by way of person to person and that is how the products have a HUGE markdown as opposed to large corporations products...they have over 300 safe and green products in their store.
NOTHING HAS formeldahyde, bleach etc...NO CANCER CAUSERS..
AND THEY DO HAVE SOME THINGS TO USE ON HARDWOOD FLOORS. My friend uses them on the gym floor at her church :)
you can use a steam mop but if you gonna use something daily. I would use a drymop or a mop with murphy's oil soap with water.
We have had good luck with Murphy's Oil Soap and a ordinary mop
Good luck,
L.
When we had our hard wood floors refinished, the contractor told us to use vinegar and water with a mop. We don't have to mop it often, most days it is just a dust mop.
Ditto on the Bona. That is what I was told to use. You can also get it at any Bed Bath and Beyond. It works great!
I tried a steam mop and was not impressed with the water that it left behind to dry on the wood and eventually warp it. I love Murphys Oil in a bucket and a wash cloth - bad part it you have to do it on your knees. Just make sure you follow the directions as far as water to murphys oil ratio. The first time we washed our hwf my hubby just dumped some MO in a bucket with some water. It was terrible!!! Streaky and foggy. The next time I did it and followed the directions and now I have shiney floors every time ;- )
I use a steam mop on my wood floors, and I love it. Now that my daughter is crawling all over the place, I feel better about steam cleaning than putting chemical cleaners all over the place. The steam mop does a fantastic job on my kitchen linoleum too.
